Going 1 bar spring, few ???

So i found out i had a 10psi spring in my wastegate this whole time. Except ive been leaking boost like a motha f'er to 5-6psi due to a coupler. So fixed it and now im runnin about 8psi. I think im getting a 2 pound pressure drop due to the bov.

the question i had was...how come the vacuum line running to the wastegate runs right off the turbo and not off the intake manifold. Like if the turbo pushes 10psi but loses the 2 psi by the time it hits the manifold, im runnin 8 psi. So what if i ran the line off the manifold and when the 10psi hits the manifold it goes to the wastegate and helps it open when the manifold sees 10psi. Is this a STUPID idea? or does it just not respond better this way thats why people run the vacuum off the turbo.

Anyways, i was gonna pick up a 1bar spring since I already paid for a 10psi spring i dont need anymore...and the only thing i cud get for it is store credit. And what good is 50 bux at XS-engineering when i already have every inexpensive part i need. So ill just pick up the 1 bar spring since i plan on running 12-14pounds on the street anyways.

Running it off the turbo, before the manifold gives the most accurate reading. Fix that boost leak you have then worry about the rest. Are you tuned for 14psi? Because that's a lot of boost if you're on stock fuel and stock map. Just looking out for you.

I think that leak is coming from the bov...where the bov meets the flange. i bought a new o-ring and clamp and it seals better then before (doesnt spin freely) but i still have the feelling its leaking from it. Everything else seems to be hooked up perfectly fine.

About the 14psi, i have a 14psi map from someone with similar setup, 1680 secondaries. Hes boosted to 18psi before on it and he didnt blow anything.

Also when my boost controller messed up, i hit 14psi twice and my friend said after i shot like 3 foot flames out the back. So i guess im still a little safe on the fuel even at 14psi. I was thinkin if the bov continues to leak, with the 14psi spring with a 2-3 psi boost leak ill be okay at 11-13 psi.

Considering @5-6 psi, i lose to my brothers mr2 by like 2 cars to 100. He has:
intake
exhaust
gutted cat
street clutch
boost controller set at 15psi

And even tho im at 8 and i cud beat him now: hes putting on a intercooler, turbo, ecu and fuel mods. 8-10 isnt going to be enough!

After feeling the difference 14 made. I need it! or something close to it.

fix that leak you are over spinning your turbo...hotter air is not good.

I run my WG off manifold pressure, not turbo pressure. I also use a MBC.

i run my wastegate off the manifold also and so you know if you are using a tial wastegate all you have to do is buy a 4psi spring and keep the 10psi spring you already have.

Make sure you ask for more feel good pills. Say you are in too much pain.

But then your car maybe down for much longer becasue you will be feeling soo good.

Yep i got a few of those. So besides the wisdom teeth being pulled today, i feel perfectly normal. Its almost like i didnt get it done today. that means it was time to test out the theory!

so i went ahead and switched the vacuum line from running off the turbo to the manifold and my theory was correct. i now push 10 psi. wow the car feels way fast. Im loving it. This turbo performs well for being a cheap ebay part. Although i am looking forward to going with an AF61. This turbo still works great for someone not looking to make huge HP (if reliability of the turbo wasnt an issue, i dunno if it is or not yet).

I think since the tuning is getting closer to what it shoudl be around by me adding more boost and leaning it out more isntead of being rich, i gained a whole lot. Right now even tho im not running the 14psi sprign yet. I could say im sorta satisfied. I think ill run around on the 10 til i lose to my brothers mr2 (since he is doing a turbo+downpipe+IC+fuel+computer) again. then its game on time and ill drop in the 14psi spring...and get the big-boys turbo
