Garrett T60-1 (T04s) V-band clamp advice needed
Hi guys, I'm having a nightmare trying to find a V-band Clamp to join my turbo to my downpipe... I've tried a few 3" ones and they are all too big or too wide for the turbo.. can anyone suggest what size V-band clamp I need to get to fit this turbo and from where?
The Turbo is a Garrett T60-1 (T04S)

Any info would be greatly appreciated as I'm getting really frustrated with this turbo!!
Thanks
Kash

That's weird, I have a Garret T04S and used a 3" weld-on vband. Post a pic of the actual product you bought... there are flanges specially designed to weld on to the back of the turbine housing. You don't just get a regular v-band flange that you would use to connect two pieces of exhaust pipe together with a clamp. The flange for the turbine housing fits in there like a puzzle piece, and then there is a regular vband flange to attach a clamp after that. That flange welded on to the turbo just fine (hard to find a shop that can weld steel to cast iron), but I had some clearance issues getting the clamp on to my turbo because it hit a stud on the HKS manifold, but I managed to figure that out.

Due to my weird clearance issue, I got a vband flange like the one in that pic welded on to my T04S, and then I had another v-band flanged welded on top of that as a spacer thing so the v-band clamp would clear the manifold..

Here is the view of the Turbo flange from the side:

The problem I'm having is that most Turbo Clamps are like the pic below and are too wide and hit the turbine rear housing...

Good thing is I've had some luck and found the type of clamp I need...

Problem now is I don't know where to get these types of turbo clamps from... anyone have an ideas?

Most retailers machine those cast flanges off and weld on the machined or rolled steel v-band flange, like the one pictured above. Maybe try and find a local machine shop to do that.
Find a local heavy truck supply store. They will most likely have it or can get it for you(and way cheaper then the performance guys that rebadge it at likely twice the price). Those thick v-band flanges are on some garrett OEM truck application hotsides, I have a .84 one sitting here with likely the same flange by the looks of it.They will also have the mating downpipe flange making it easier to construct the downpipe.

I had that exact problem you are describing, of the clamp hitting something and not being able to close properly. So I bought another V-band flange and welded it on to the v-band flange that was already on the turbo, as a spacer almost. Does that make sense?
So normally it would go:
turbine housing --> short vband flange designed for turbine housings
my setup:
turbine housing --> short vband flange --> vband flange designed for pipes
so if this | is what it normally looks like from the side, mine looked like |--| , extended out so the clamp will clear everything. But then I had to have the downpipe custom made.

Found a solution, took it to a turbo specialist who said the flange on the turbo was way to thick and he had never seen anything like that before. He said he would be able to machine it down to fit a clamp that he has. So I left it with him and will pick it up in a few days with a clamp that fits
