garrett t04r

i'm thinking about putting a t04r in my fc3s...
i would like to have something that is responsive and produce quite a good hp figure...
so what spec shall i be looking for (trim of the exhuast turbine, the A/R of the exhaust housing, the compressor and the compressor housing)?
what does the watercooled do?

watercooled helps the turbo keeper cooler and also id say helps prolong the life. Is your engien ported or stock ports? responsive id say get something around.96a/r that seems to be good for a rotary

Kabooski and I will both be running a .81(PT67 GTQ, basicly same spec as an HKS TO4R)), before you say that is too small, consider the CARX7 made 467@19psi on a BB Q trim TO4R sized turbo. I have a .81 P trim TO4S, that makes ~350 as well. I will most likely be dynoing a T66 .81 Q trim this weekend with Steve Kan, I'll be sure to post the results. 1.32 would be Drag only IMHO. A .96 with excellent tuning will work, but you can get faster spool, and a bunch of power with the smaller ARs. Carl

Does anyone know where I can get a T04r without being in a kit? What are some of the equivalent turbochargers made? I'm trying for a 400hp 13b with good response and it seems the t04r would be about right.

I've seen that site before, but I don't know much about them. You seem to have had good experience with them, can you tell me a little more about them? Has anyone else had any experience with them? Thanks

cheapturbo has very good reviews don't worry about it

The only thing that makes the Pt67 and the to4r look small is the compressor cover compared to the Turbonetics T66 and above

put is has a slighly larger compressor wheel
so flow should be the same of more then a T66

We'll see
I'll soon have both a T66 and a PT67 like Carl to compare

Ted, a 1.32 Q trim... spooled by when, next year??? Do you have any dynos of a 1.32 Q trim? I would think yould be hard pressed to see full boost before 5000 rpm. If I am wrong, show me, I am always looking to learn new things. I know the Aussies are pretty good at making the big ARs work, so you never know, but I still think that is a drag set-up. Carl

I purchased my TO4R from Ken at cheapturbos.com about a month ago. it has a .93 A/R with a P wheel for steet. Turbo does look a little compact on the compressor side but when you take off the housing you see that the exducer and the induser are quite larger. the Turbine Wheel also has one more fin than my previous TSO4 and it does not come cut. All i have done to it is ceramic coat both sides and i am preparing to install within the next 2 weeks.

If your interested this is another option http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...howtopic=45098

I think a 1.32 will be laggy for a street set up on a extend port (streetport) on a 13B. I guess it depends on what your looking for.

I ended up getting one of those GT35/t4 blowzillas with a 1.00 divided hot side (from Ken). So far I'm really happy with the customer service after deciding to change the AR the day before it was due to ship without a hassle. I should get it by the end of next week, I'll tell everyone how it looks.
