Garrett GT42/45 overkill for street ported FD?

I'd like to try a new turbocharger out.

I've been looking at the Garrett GT35/40 and GT42.
It doesn't look like it would lag a whole lot.
The GT42 has a significantly larger compressor and turbine wheel.

4sfed on these forums has one for a 20b, that turbo would be way too large for a 13b,

Yeah, thanks 10sec Rx7...

myself and a mate are building a 20B gen 3 and have just got a Gt42/45 for it. Let me tell you it is an absolute monster. If your not running a 20B forget about it as you will never see half of its potential on a 13B.

You would need a BIG shot of NOS to get the thing on boost... IMHO way too big.

Go for a GT35/40... thats what myself and a few mates are running on 13BT's and they are awesome.

Is it a gebuine Gt42? Magnus has been running that turbo for quite a while and the GT42 has only been out a matter of months....

Post your pic!

are we measuring dicks here?

we have custom exhaust housing put on ours to accept the big footprint from the TV-51. I'd like to compare yours.

Thats her!

Thats the same ugly compressor housing we got, we just put it in a smaller housing on the exhaust.

It's a little small for a 20B IMHO, just perfect for a 13B.

but some say I'm not well.

Hi FSFED,

Wondering where you got your GT35/40? And do they sell a setup GT35/40 + exhaust manifold + hardware? Appreciate any info. Thanks.

IMHO, The GT42 is a far superior turbo than the GT35/40. e-mail me privately if you want any of these turbo's we have quite a few of them on the shelf.

Im thinking about a GT 42 with 1.22 exhaust housing for my FD streetport. Will it fit where the oem turbos are placed or do I have to get it up? I want to get the airpump in the car without removing the turbo on smog check.

Is the GT42 with 1.22 E.H. a good choice? I can get one for 500 $, and its not Rollerbearing.

How well does the GT42 perform on a road race track?

It sounds like a drag turbo to me.
