Garrett GT4088R vs. HKS TO4R

How do these 2 turbos compare? Any info would be greatly appreciated. I know the specs on both turbos as I have looked at both of them on their respective websites, but I am wondering how they match up. Ray Wilson just finished up a full bridge port 3rd gen with an HKS TO4R turbo, and on c16 @ 19psi it made 562rwhp. I'm getting the same motor build but I have a GT40R and am wondering if my numbers would be close at that same boost? Any guesses on what it would do at 27-28psi on c16? Thanks

Dee E.

I was thinking more along the lines of 625-650 rwhp with 450-475 rwtq.

I think you will be lucky to break 600rwhp with that turbo. Also to do the 625-650 rwhp range you would've needed to have the clearancing done...I think it'll end up doing high 500's, the GT4088 is only like a 62mm compressor wheel that is only rated at 700hp (flywheel)

According to Garrett's website, my turbo is a 63.5mm. How did Greg's car do 610whp with just a streetport and no clearancing? If I had known this I would've rather done the clearancing. That's why I decided to go with the bridgeport as well. I wanted to see over 600whp with my turbo.

Ernie's car did 711whp with "just a streetport". Greg's car has a 66mm compressor inducer and an 80mm 1.2a/r hot side. I'd estimate your gt4088r at 27lbs would make 538whp.

Well, Ray says high 500s and you say 538whp. I find 538 to be quite low. Greg's car also did 561whp on that same turbo with just a 61mm compressor.

Ernies car is not just a street port, It has a decent amount of internal work done aswell. I will let him elaborate if he wants to disclose that info.

P.S.- I was joking about the power numbers earlier

I know you were. I'm about to find out what our turbos are capable of. If it's not up to task, I may be going with the GT4094R.

I recommended the 4094r to my friend who wants to hit the 600whp mark. I was told you can't get even get close with the 4088r, but I'd love to see you prove otherwise, don't get me wrong. Good luck!

I would be very impressed to see mid 500's on this 4088. But of course you have a great tuner that will pull out all of its power. I was only able to hit mid 400's with the 4088 but that was with the shorty manifold.
I now have the 4094 long runner mani and fresh ported motor. Just need it tuned! I was shooting for mid 500's on it but would be thrilled to break 600!

I'm also full bridge ported. Ray says that makes a big power difference over a streetport.

.58 A/R is wrong. It is .72 A/R on the compressor side and 1.06 on exhaust. 63.5mm inducer and 88mm exducer on the compressor taken from Garret's website.

My best guess would be about the same as what Ray and I think mine will make. He say high 500s, I say 600-615 fingers crossed.

Everything is the same between the 4088R and 4094R except the inducer and exducer of the compressor wheel.

I don't doubt you on that. But I am running a full bridge port to your large street port. This could get interesting.

Either way, if I don't make close enough to 600whp, then I may sell my turbo and go with the 4094R.
