Garrett GT40 for sale on ebay

I was wondering if anybody had any opinions on this turbo. Does anyone know if this turbo would work on the FD? Debating if I should buy or not.

Its a pretty big turbo, so it will be laggy. The last one I saw on ebay wasn't ball bearing either.

Yes, the GT40 will work on an FD. Yes, it will be laggy. However, the turbo itself is GREAT! I wouldn't recommend using it on a stock ported engine, but a huge streetport or some type of bridge would do nicely. A-Spec Tuning is selling GT40R kits. That might be something that you want to look into. It's a full ball bearing GT40 that comes with manifold and DP. You also need to keep in mind that with the size of that turbo, it's efficiency range is higher up there too. Unless you plan on running 16psi and up(way up) then the GT40 is probably too big of a turbo for you. I hope that this helps though. Laterz.

Yea, i was kinda wondering about them too. Ive been looking and there isnt much info on them on here. I was looking at the smaller one, with the .94 turbine housing. It seems like it would be pretty big, But there is a pretty big gap between the Gt40 and gt42 from the chart on the garrett website.

Ive been emailing one of the guys that are selling them, And its like pulling teeth trying to get him to send me a picture of it. and the other guy doesnt answer my emails. so, who knows.

whats everybody think about one of these on a stock ports TII? the smaller one with the .58 compressor side, and .94 exhaust side. I know it will be laggy but how bad will it be?

Think of it this way: the GT40 is a GT35/40 with a T4 exhaust side instead of a restrictive T3. The 35/40 uses a GT40 compressor. Jason and myself both have a custom T78 using the GT40 compressor with a machined compressor housing from www.majesticturbo.com. It's a very nice setup and I can only imagine what the A-spec kit is going to be like.

No, the GT40R is like a T04R. But I would say a little better seeing as it is using some of HKS's new techonolgy. That and there is a such thing as a BB T04R, it's called the T04Z. I don't know if many people have heard about it yet or not. It's seriously bad ***, but also SERIOUSLY expensivve! I was going to run a BB T66, but after further review the GT40R or T04Z will do everything the T66 would've for me and MORE. I do hope that I have answered your question Revvin7. If you have anything else then please let me know. Laterz.

The T04Z still uses a T-series compressor though. Not as modern and probably not as efficient (if Garrett is to be believed) as the new GT series.

Good point rx7tt95. It seems that we keep playing on this topic back and forth between these boards and NoPistons. Go figure! You still planning on picking up one of those setups from Sean??
