fuel problem at track

I took my 88TII to summit point for a track day. The car performed well all day except when my fuel gauge dropped below 1/2 full and then only on turn two. Turn 2 is a left turn and I would enter it at about 50mph. When I hit the turn with less then 1/2 tank, and would acccelerate out, the engine would just go blah. It would not die and would accelerate fine when I came out of the turn. There are two more left turn and the problem never happened there. It would happen like clockwork though on turn two. I'm thinking something was happening with the fuel pickup. Any other ideas? I would not have minded topping off the gas tank, but fuel was running $2.75 for 93 octane. The 110 octane was going for $4.75!

It's a intermediate fuel tank normally a couple quarts in size. You would use your stock fuel pump to feed the surge tank then your high pressure fuel pump would then draw from the surge tank to feed the fuel rails. Do a search on surge tanks and you will find a lot of info and pic's on this forum.
