Did anyone experience difference in light weight flywheel vs. stock one? Does it help spool turbo faster?

 

It should take longer to spool the turbo due to less load put on the engine.

 

how light are we talking here?

I just got the ACT streetlight 13.9Ib plus 4 pounds for the CW= 18Ib compared to 28 stock

I've always used the stock ones
but every high HP car that I've read about or seen uses a "lighter" flywheel
so they must have some value...too light is not too good for the 1/4 mile tho
Thats why I got the steetlight to install soon..since I do 1/4 mike bursts

 

I agree with kabooski, you do not want something superlight because you will drop revs faster and fall out of boost. I just got the 14lb billet aluminum spec flywheel. It doesn't need a counterweight and I can't wait to drive it.

 

i've got the ACT prolite. it actually comes into boost about 200rpm faster. not a whole lot, but a minor difference. it feels like it gets into the powerband a lot quicker tho. as far as drag racing, i honestly haven't noticed a difference in launching the car. i have yet to bog it while launching the same as i did with the stock one. the only beef i have with it, is sometimes when i go to stop somewhere, the car revs down to quick and it'll die. in my honest opinion, the difference isn't as great as what everyone makes it out to be. i enjoy mine, and don't regret it one bit. the car has a t78 on it btw, in case that makes a difference
