Fitted water injection now my boost has DOUBLED?!
First of all, let me tell you 1.7bar is FAR faster than 0.8bar But im sure it cant be good for it, so I need to work out whats up...
My FC is running an ERC side ported engine (sounds street, idles too normal for bridge etc), single T4 on tubular manifold (was told its a T04E but who knows), hks wastegate, uprated injectors (secondaries are light blue, what size is that?), HKS F-Con Pro, Blitz intercooler, etc etc. Car was bought from Japan like this sooo
Anyhow, for safetys sake I have been running it on just wastegate pressure, 0.8bar and I just fitted ERL/Aquamist water injection, and installed the 0.7mm jet with it activating at 10psi, hoping to be able to turn up the boost a little
Took it our for a first test drive, still on actuator pressure, so should be 0.8bar, and suddenly the boost is going up to about 1.7bar!?!
Its mega torquey, sounds amazing, and much quicker, as youd expect, but that aint right...
Checked the line to the wastegate, its tee'd off the compressor outlet and feeds nothing but the wastegate, and looks ok
I swapped the broken HKS boost controller the car came with for a simple mechanical one while I tested things, but thats fully closed and 100% not leaking.
I know inreased cooling from the water can increase boost (the blitz intercooler on it is a tiny piece of crap), but not 1.7bar on wastegate spring pressure, surely?
Any ideas?!

Unplugged water injection and removed boost controller, no change, so was neither of them.
Only thing I can think is the two lines to the wastegate ports, but they both braided steel lines, so wont exactly split? And ive not been near them.
Wastegate diagphram could be split, but it was fine until I made these changes, and again, not been near them, so unlikely? Wastegate certainly opens, can hear the screamer pipe.
Running 1.5bar on wastegate pressure alone isnt likely with no problem is it? As someone suggested me messing with things could have fixed a boost leak that was holding it back at 0.8 previously?

try running only the line to the bottom of the wastegate to the compressor housing so you know you're definately running wastegate spring pressure. if it still goes to 1.7 then you know you might have a faulty wastegate.

If it was safe id leave it, awesome as it is, it has big torque, unlike previously, lol. Id be tempted to plug the wideband in now and see how it is, but im so convinced the boost increase is a problem rather than me "accidently" fixing a leak, I best check the wastegate first.
Shame the wastegate is right under the car, as thats whats likely to be messed up somehow, and on my car thats a bumper off job. Im pissed off with it now- wanted to use it tonight!
Ill look at it later when im less pissed off with it...
