FD Fuel Pump?

OK, I have searched and this has not came up from what I can tell. I am looking for a large intank pump that can support my new engine/turbo setup. I just got my new Race Ported Engine from BNR and I am running a T78 Turbo with a top feed primary rail with 756cc injectors and a custom secondary rail w/ 1680cc injectors and an SX FPR. I am planning on -8AN Feed line from the pump to a Y-distribution block into two -8AN feed lines running the rails in parallel with both rails returning with -6AN lines to the two inputs on the FPR and a single -6AN return line to the tank. I would like to run one large single intank pump that can support my turbo/engine up to 600rwhp or so. I want a setup that will be good enough for my future goals as well.

I have been looking at the Aeromotive A1000 but it appears to be an inline pump only and I don't want to sump the tank if I don't have to. Does anyone know of a large intank pump that can support this setup? I have been looking at twin pumps as well, that is an option but I think I would rather have 1 large pump instead of two smaller pumps.

Thanks,
Scott

They are too small. They are both intank but I need a pump that can really keep up with me and my future goals as well as my imediate goals. I have the Denso Comp. Pump right now because I was told it would hold up to 500hp but I have since found out that is not true. I am looking for a BIG pump, SX, Aeromotive, Weldon, etc...preferably not Weldon, they are too loud for my tastes. But who knows.

I'm running the Aeromotive 1000HP fuel pump>Aeromotive fuel filter>-10 feed lines to Y-dist block>-10 feed lines out of dist block to primary rail/secondary rail. My return line is -8 all the way back.

Not quite done yet so I don't have all my pictures but heres a pic.

Anyone else have any ideas for a large intank fuel pump? If not then I guess I am going to sump it.

I am just going to sump the tank and mount the A1000 externally. How do you go about sumping the tank? I just drop the tank and weld the sump on and cut out that size of hole in the tank or just drill a bunch of holes?

Also, how long do I need to let the tank sit before I can start welding, is there any concern with the fuel fumes catching fire or anything? What do I do about the cradle that held the factory pump? Just leave it in there with no pump on it or what? What about my fuel gauge realy, will it still work?

Anyone who can give me some tips on how to do this would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

I just pulled my tank out and washed it good with soap before I started welding.

Just take out the stock fuel pump and leave everything else, your fuel gauge sensor is attached to that. (FLOAT)

Test fit the sump before you do it. Mine was 2 inches off the ground.

2"???? Damn, that is low....what type of suspension do you have? Do you think I could come out to STL sometime to see your setup in person?

Also, didn't you custom build yoursetup?

Thanks,
Scott

I bought a summit sump for mine. I did a test fit and it ended up being 2 inches off the ground so I scratched that idea. I ended doing a custom setup yes. My car is only lowered 1 1/3 inches so it's not like the car is really low.

Yes you can come out anytime.

PM me some info on when I can come and some numbers to get a hold of you. Do you still have the Summit Sump? That is like the one from Jegs as well. My car is lowered down as well on RB springs so I am not sure how much clearance that would give me.

I've already sold the summit sump. The racing beat springs lower the car the same as my Eibach Pro kit springs so you'll be in the same position.

I'll pm you.

SR's Ultimate pump should do just fine. I have one of them for sale in the third gen section. It's not wisper quiet, but it is effective and it installs in the stock location.

teachermechanic -- I tried to email you but you don't allow emails through this forum so I couldnt' I would love to see some pics of how you got it to fit. I have also heard of the A1000 being mounted in tank but I was curoius as tohow difficult that would be. ANy more info you have would be great.

twokrx7 -- Can the SR keep up at high boost? It should be fine for my immediate goals but I am also trying to build for my future goals as well. I don't want to have to redo my fuel system again later on. Does anyone else have any knowledge of this pump and it's effectiveness with high boost. I would like to build for around 700rwhp or so. That would give me a cushion of about 100rwhp more than my future goal.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott -

DJRC can sump your tank when you bring it in for the cage work or whatever. We could do it at our shop as well.

Peace,
Wes

Yes, get someone to fab You a custom sump that will fit Your tank and setup better. I took a piece of 12 gauge aluminum and mounted the Aeromotive pump on it with lots of rubber to dampen the vibration. It is low to the ground but no worse then the cat back. Also use the ss/teflon fuel line and fittings as they are half the price and look just as good if You are going this way. Pain in the *** to get the black rubber off the tank bottom though.

Where did you guys buy your line and how much did it cost? I can only find Earl's line and it cost way too much.

Who makes this ss/teflon line that you are talking about sub-sero?

Thanks,
Scott

I bought mine from a local shop. I bought all earls braided line and fittings. My lines and fittings just for the fuel ended up totalling out to be right at 620.00

There is also a pushlock type line and fitting that you can use that is cheaper. It's more of a blue rubber hose that's good for 1000 psi. It looks pretty nice too.

Check out Aeroquip

lane_change,

I think your looking for a dual or custom setup if you want 700 rwhp out of an intank pump. The stock-ish repalcement upgrades will be overly challenged to keep up with this hp target.
