Exclamation FD Experiment (Ebay-Kit/RA-seals) FINALLY DONE!!!

Guys ,,,,,,,,,so long!!!

I disapeared for some time due to car, work, travel and ****... but i'm back and would like to post my set-up since it should clear some questions up there ...

XS manifold
XS 50mm Bov
XS 50mm WG
Master Power T-70 (T3 tang divided P-trim .84) w/Turbonetics 62-1 compressor
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Custom (FAB style) Fuel Rail
Aeromotive 1:1
Earls 30 micron fuel filter
Nascar plumbing (fittings, hoses, etc,,,from eBay)
1600 secondary (bosh)
850 stocks primary
Microtech LT-10
Greddy FMIC 2-row
custom 3" downpipe/exhaust
etc...etc...etc...

Everything but the Microtech was bought at Ebay (it saves a LOT!!). No probelms with RA seals (3rd batch) or any parts,,, the only problem I had was with the turbo Thrust bearing, it didnt last to long, so I upgraded to 62-1 compressor sidel and 360 bearing,,, as i mentioned before in some post is still a good deal ,,,,,like $500 for a good reliable turbo,,,

I did 430 whp @ 21 psi. Turbo lag is MINIMAL!!! ,,,full boost at 3000 rpms!! It has been REALLY fun to drive and to smoke cars in 3rd gear!! No drag times yet but I had race some 11s and 12s cars and see them in my mirror!!!

here are some pics of a dyno event at PR ,,,my car is the at the first pics: (i did 390 on that dyno at 18 psi),,,

http://www.carrito.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=66438

Overall: I'm so freaking happy i finished,,, specially after daily drive and race-hard the car several times ,,,,it finally looks like a reliable/fun/affordable cost set-up,,,

Thats a whole lot of boost for 430rwhp. I did that at 16lbs. Are you doing this on pump gas?

it's all realitive

Those numbers are great (especially the spool)

Does it die off on the top end with a t3 .84 and any ignition break up at 21psi?

Those numbers are fine. It took me 20 psi to make 435 whp and i have a t78. It all depends on whether you want to be conservative or aggressive and of course how good your tuner is. Im sure a good tuner could easily add 20 whp to both of our setups. Good job, I figured the ebay **** wasnt all that bad. I met someone at the rotary rev who is running the xs power 60-1 turbo, i dont believe he has had any problems yet.

thx for the FB!!!

street ported,

cost during 2003/04 included shipping for long-monitored items and bidding every time (everything new or still in the box):

manifold $127
WG $137
bov $95
turbo $350
8 aluminum fittings/filter $62 (this was a good one!)
hoses (an-6, an-10) like 15 ft $50 (this also!)
pump $92
FMIC $800
fuel rail $75
injectors (2-1600) $170
thrust bearing/wheel $175 (non-eBay)
LT-10 $1100 w/hand set (non-ebay)

you can easy add like $500 in the extra ***** like wiring, ties, silicone lines, heat shields, this and that, etc...

I did a 360hp programm at 18psi, gaby (same tunner of kaboosky) did 390hp on the same program. then we mix w/T-111 for the 430whp at 21psi. Though, I use pump gas every day. The T-111 mix is just a racing safety factor so i can sleep well

it never dies on revs and no ign breaks, power was achieved at 6800 rpms in 3rd gear and the graph slope was still going up, so should be more as it keeps reving or in 4th gear ...super smooth rpm band and acceleration!

the numbers make sense, it is a T3 inlet!! when you compromise the exhaust, it will yield less power but the spooling will be faster, it is exact thing what i was looking (we race a lot on streets down here ,,, when you accelerate on 3rd gear it feels like the 1st and 2nd gears with no spinning until amost shifting to 4th... pretty similar to the twin set-up but a lot more power... i would said the feeling/power should be something similar to a .69 T4 inlet but with less lag due to the T3 inlet...

Yeah that was me fastcarfreak. I knew I should have written down your name when we met cause I forgot. Still no problems with the ebay 60-1, so far I've put about 1200 miles on it and some autocross from the revolution. Also, I bought a brand new, brand name (Turbo XS type-S) BOV that doesn't even attempt to work. It seems to me that a lot of the failure of aftermarket products is pretty relative. I just bought a T78 though, so I think I'm gonna take off and sell the 60-1 and go bigger. After I saw your car (fastcarfreak) and that other yellow T78 car at the revolution...I just had to have a T78. I plan to blow my current motor doing a little "experimenting" and then over the summer rebuild with a bridgeport.

those numbers are really poor for that size turbo
i have a bud with that exact same turbo that made 390rwhp at 10psi
and another with well over 450+ at 16psi

numbers are fine with a T3/.84 exhaust in a dynojet... do you know which a/r T-flange were they running???

and yes,,, just a walbro,,, it never drops through all power band, just keep increase pressure as boost increase (1:1 ratio),,, i have heard they have power problems if not hooked properly (cable gauge and relay)

Lower efficiency is probably due to more clearance on the machining.
It doesn't surprise me.
Although I don't like the sound of the turbo eating the thrust bearing, I'm glad you got eveything to work out for you.

i have the Master power t70(1.15a/r) also, though my hp/boost was low, and i know why. I had a 2.5 section on my exhaust and it caused alot of distrubance once i got to higher boost i pegged 19psi barely and wouldnt go past(EBC) also there was alot of break up around 7500rpm+ the top power sort of drops and feels hesitant on the higher boost because of the exhaust situation. So i was netted 434.6rwhp @ 19psi also did 390@ 13psi..like i said these figures are low for the boost, i have since then fixed it and im going back in 2 weeks.

Good job man. Gaby is the man, he tuned my car too. BTW, are you only running a walboro 255, no bigger fuel lines, no extra relay to the fuel pump?

yep, you can read ted. The results will be dramatically different once i hit the dyno again. At 19psi i should be gettin close to 500rwhp. yes i know i had very low hp for the boost, the car was making good power on lower boost, but once it got higher. it wasnt working.

Yes... just one walbro 255 ...w/AN-6 fuel line and extra relay...

i went to the track and did 13.3 @ 119 mph at 21 psi... with shifting problems and spinnig all the way until 3rd gear (265/35/18 sumittomo 220 tred)... DOT drag radials are on the way and already increased boost to 23 psi ...it feels a LOT stronger in 3rd and 4th gears,,,, i'll probably go back this friday...i'll let you know...

the 2.5 section might be the problem, mostly if you are running big a/r numbers...good luck next time and keep in touch...

BTW,,, you run your passes in 3rd or 4th?

I wouln't trust a tiny walbro for that much boost. Also, who did your tuning? The power numbers are pretty weak.
