fast spoolin setup

i'm looking for the fastest spoolin setup for a tII. i'm not looking into high hp, just fast spoolin. by that i mean great throttle response too. maybe somewhere between 300rwhp to 350rwhp. i'm thinking about a T04B but please, any input will be great. thanks

For your HP goals 300-350:

T04B60-1 with .84 A/R p-trim turbine should spool damm quick, get you your power, and isn't that expensive.

I second that. Pretty much anything with a hot side A/R less than 1.0 will spool up below 4k Rpm. The .84 should spool faster than that.

i currently have a 93 touring with about 300rwhp. would a s4 with 300-350rwhp feel similar? i know that the main difference is one is a single and the other are twins. but just all out 70+mph starting on the freeway, would it pull like my fd?

smerkinseven: I don't know much about if both cars would pull the same with 300RWHP. But logically, I think the single turbo one would have a better top end. But both cars have different gearing, the 3rd gen with a higher top speed. And also weight. 2nd being lighter if I'm not mistaken. So from a 70mph start, I'd probably have to say it could be pretty even, but the single turbo will probably have better top end and a larger power band .....I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.

On with the ball bearing question. In my opinion, from what I heard and read. Ball bearing turbo generally last longer and spool up faster then conventional turbos with thrust bearings.

I hope this helps

thanks 20b... that's what i heard about the bb turbos too. that they spool faster. but do you guys think that the bb make a big enough difference for the extra cash? let me ask this....... what much difference is there with the bb turbo? does it spool 500 rpm faster? 1000? of course given that they are the same size turbos on the same car. Thanks for all the great info!

I really don't think the BB option is worth it, in terms of $$$ on say a T04 turbo. It adds +$500 or so.

You only want 300+ hp, which isn't hard for these turbos at all. So get a small exhaust, combined with a streetport it will spool very, very quick.

i might not want to get a streetport cause i'm in cali. how much difference would a bb make? not in power but in spool, rpm wise. $500 isn't too bad, if it can spool at 500rpm or more, i might just do that.

spool on a t04 bb is around 3500 with the right setup/ usually less with the correct exhaust side.

If you dont want to spend alot on a turbo, well a TO4E,TO4B or 60-1 would be able to support 400WHP. They supposedly spool up pretty quickly. Add a street port and about 15psi and that should do it.

You'll have to let someone else answer that. I don't want to give you false information. But I'm *GUESSING* under 15psi. But things like tuning factor in. So good tuning might help run a decent amount of boost on low octane gas. But I'm just guessing here, you'll have to let someone else answer that question.
