Mine is vented to the atmosphere, it sounds like a fire engine venting to the atmosphere doesn't require plumbing, just let it dump form the wastegate. You can plumb it with a peice of pipe but if your going to do that might as well plumb it into the d/p.
There as been some talk about venting to the atmosphere causing tuning problems, because that is exhaust gas that isnt reaching the O2 sensor. I dont think its at big a deal for just your regular joe, but there is a big tread about it in the single turbo section if you look for it

Mine goes out to the atmosphere and i think it sounds like i have a howler monkey under the hood. I can get a video clip or a sound clip if you wanted to hear it.
