Question exhaust trim question

i have a garrett turbo w/ a To4 footprint that i purchased and i want to know if the exhaust trim is going to be sufficient for my application. i no idea what to look for to know if it will be acceptable. i do know that it has a divided 1.15 divided housing and had a 60 trim wheel on it (assuming to4E). i sent it to precision for a 60-1 comp wheel w/ a .70 housing.

what does the p trim/q trim mean and will my outlet be a hinderence. how can i get an accurate measurement of the wheel w/out having to pull the thing apart? will post a pic or two later.

thank you turbo gurus

With those specs, most likley its got a "P" trim turbine. For reasurance, YES you can check the wheel trim by removing the turbine housing and measuring the wheel. (the turbine housing simply unbolts, no gaskets or o rings needed, so its super easy to check) Garratt turbine trims are follows:

T4 family,

"N" Trim Exducer Dia. 2.071" Major Dia. 2.922" (too small for rotary)

"O" Trim Exducer Dia. 2.296" Major Dia. 2.922" (still too small for rotary"

"P" Trim Exducer Dia. 2.544" Major Dia 2.922" (perfect for rotary and matches well with MANY different trim compressor wheels)

"Q" Trim Exducer Dia. 2.693" Major Dia. 3.111" (should only be used with LARGE compressors {T66} and drag style builds and is only available in big shaft turbos)

There is another trim turbine wheel by Turbonetics which is a Qr? or R trim? I dont know the specs, but its not needed except for the hardcore drag racer.

well, i cut down an index card little by little until it was damn near the size of the wheel. i did the best i could do by eye and close relation ship of the blades to the housing......i had my dial caliper preset at 2.544" and the arms went around the paper like they were waiting for it. i gonna guess to say that i have a P trim.

that should be good for a reasonable amount of horsepower shouldn't it.... a 60-1 w/ .70 compressor housing and a p trim 1.15 divided exhaust?

GREAT turbo choice, Im running same thing except 1.00 a/r on the hot. Between 15 - 18 psi you should see anything from 385 rwhp to 425 rwhp depending on set up.
