Exhaust sleeve protuding , problem or no?

Hi all,
I'm looking for opinions on whether I've got a problem or not (about the car that is ). I am in the process of building an engine for my street car (FC TII 13B turbo). With stock ports and 17psi, before it failed it was making around about 300rwhp. After the build I'm aiming for the same power but at 14psi.

I bought a second hand pair of FD housing a few months ago. One was missing an exhaust sleeve. No problem I thought. I gave the plates and housings to a guy to port and asked him to sort out the missing sleeve issue.

He did the porting but said that the housing with the missing sleeve had had some material removed previously from the bottom of the opening so the ramp angle out of the port was different (more horizontal slightly). This meant that the bottom of the sleeve is sitting proud by a few mm. The pictures shows what I mean. The suspect one is closet to the camera. There isn't a lot in it, just a couple of mm.

And another one form the other side, the suspect one is furthest from the camera

The porting guy has a lot of experience and said that the sleeve will give trouble so just leave it out of that housing. I would prefer to keep the sleeve if possible so both housings are the same, and I understand it assists keeping exhaust heat out of the cooling system.

Looking at that pic, what are the opinions on whether that sleeve is going to over heat, melt, move around, block up the port etc etc???? Or should I just get another housing???!

Thanks in advance,
Arran

First, make sure the sleeve is centered (you can have it offset if you don't pay attention when installing the roll pins). Then you should just simply grind the sleeve down to match the other. Should be perfectly fine...

leave them both out.. no issues with longevity or overheating
.. possibly if you had the worlds best butt dyno then there is some argument for spool
but reality is far from the ideal anyhows,,try it,, it still works AOK,,, and 99% of people wouldnt know the difference... sleeves in or out
..just port match the entrance to your turbo manifold ..

It'll start melting and eventually destroy your turbo under heavy use. I've seen it happen a few times.

What you have to do is heat up the sleeve with ox torch and bang it into shape-doing this cold will make it crack. You don't have to change the housing, there are 2 roll pins on the side of the housings that keep it in place.
