EGT sensor - where to mount

Hi All
Where is the best place to mount the EGT sensor. Should it be on the DP or closer to the ports ie manifold? I have the Greddy electronic gauge.
Thanks
Martin

You can put it one of 2 places..

Good - in the down pipe next to the O2 sensor.

Better/Best - In the rear runner of your exhaust manifold (the rear rotor) or where the runners come together. The greddy bung for the sensor is 1/8 NPT (if i remember correctly.) Just find a tap listing, Drill out the hole and tap with the appropriate Tap.

I have a TII and i have mine in the spot where the exhaust runners come together in the HKS cast manifold. The rear rotor is normally the first to blow so it is good to have the temp reading there or closer to there.

The temp should be ~800-850.

Is the 800 to 850 degrees C at cruise or under boost at WOT? I am getting 900 but the car needs tuning. I have a Greddy A/F sensor mounted in the DP as well close to the turbo. It goes into overheat mode after driving with some enthusiasm. Any idea how far from the turbo to mount this?
