ECU options in 2021? Haltech e8 Viable?

Hi I’m new here & searching brings up older irrelevant results...

I’m going to be running a GT35 with a 1.06 A/R
I want to reach the reliability threshold of the largest 13b injectors (Limited by my drifting class rule set).
Regardless that’s not the most important part.

I’m looking at ECU options & I spotted a dinosaur Haltech E8 & it seemed to have a ton of features for its time which made me wonder how it stacks up against the current Haltech 550 & or a Power FC Max.
I would rather avoid spending $700-$1000, but you gotta pay to play. So please inform me.

I honestly DO NOT care about any of the features except saving a bit on fuel (Good tuning table???)
Being able to control my Davies Craig EWP
& being able to change boost with a click of a button to a conservative tune. As I may daily this car for a little.

i would not use an E8 on a rotary engine, they were buggy, and inconsistent at best.
at worst the thing overheats and shuts down randomly

Thanks for that info... In the Car Stereo Amp world thats a problem lol I'll take it apart & hook computer fans to it if that's the only issue otherwise any "more affordable" suggestions?z

Also I JUST NOW found the Engine management part of the forums my apologies ahead of time for not posted there

You might want to decide between a good/modern ECU and a cheap, sub-$1,000, ECU.

My personal opinion is that, if you're going to take the time to change the ECU (and harness, for the love of god) then you might as well swap to the best quality ECU that you can afford. Skip EVERYTHING pre haltech Elite/AEM Infinity.

The E8 is trash. Full stop. And I’m a Haltech guy. The inside joke is that we don’t talk about the red boxes. Best case it overheats and shuts down. Worst case you destroy an engine.

Link G4+ would be a great option or the newer G4X.

Lol I could tell considering I couldn't find jack **** Rofl Just exploring my options I don't want much power & conservative boost numbers maybe 10psi-15. Im gonna max out the biggest OEM 13B injectors I can find. (Per my drift class ruleset) Ima tryhard.. Is what im saying, but I'm not trying to spend above my current needs.

Can you run REW secondary injectors in a milled primary rail for more fuel or they have to be the injectors used in that position?

Can you run water injection?

Can you run an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? That could help you a bit with a pump capable of high output pressure with decent flow. Note that flow rate does not increase linearly with pressure but with the square root of the relative pressure increase.

Well, the e8 is worth 5 dollars in a modern market, but that doesn't tack on the extra 5k for a new engine. Get an Elite and don't look back. Buy once, cry once. It's so much more than features with modern stuff. Processing power and software use and logging is so good on a modern ecu.

No limits anywhere else but the injectors have to be OEM It doesn’t say anything about “Size” or “How Many”, but to be safest I’d get whichever 13b has the most injectors/biggest overall size OEM which would be ???? (tell me if you know REW??)
I could get a good pump & run them at around 80% duty cycle if I’m correct

If you need a cheap but capable ecu I have an adaptronic select that was used on a 3 rotor I'll let go for $500

From highest to lowest CC:

1 - REW secondary
2 - GSL-SE
3 - REW Primary/S4-S5 TURBO injectors (primary and secondary) also S4-S5 NA primary injectors
4 - S4-S5 NA Secondary injectors

REW injectors are "side" feed injectors

It's the e1280s. Bought it used but then never used it. Comes with the harness, but strongly recommend doing a new one or cleaning it up.
