Ebay Turbo Kit

Im running that ebay turbo kit.

So i finally got maps loaded on saturday, thanks to mike. It seems like the spring ive got in there is 6 psi. The wastegate opens! thank god haha. As far as power goes. The car feels good in third gear, alot better then back when i had the stock twins, and i/e/dp/pfc/bov. The turbo kicks in around 4,500. Also, I havent had a chance to make a 4th gear pull yet because my tags are still out of date so i didnt wanna drive out to the freeway.

so im running super rich on boost right now. But i plan on getting a boost controller in a month or so and turning it up to 10 psi. and we'll see how that feels.

Good Job, just be careful with break in and tuning. You should have a blast, it will be a very quick car.

Just keep us posted on how the turbo performs.

i have 1,500 miles on the motor but i havent taken it past 6,500. I floored the car for the first time tonight with the tune and wow 1 gear is laggy but 2nd and 3rd gear feel really good. And the car does good on the freeway too in 4th.

At what RPM do you see around 10-12 psi? Just curious. I hit 12 psi around 3500 or so. Yes a touch laggy but it kicks in hard.
Once you're up in the rpms and shift up in the RPMs you don't have to worry about lag to much. Roll ons in 5th around 90 ar the goods also, no down shifting required.

Ahh i dont see 10 -12 psi yet. I still need a boost controller. It appears the spring is probably the 5.8 one. Because the needle goes a little past 5 psi.

The wastegate opens right around 4,200-4,500. i think depending on which gear and if im flooring it or just 1/2-3/4 throttle.

Freeway underpasses are fun HAHAHA.

Last night my temps were 84-85 c on the powerfc the whole time even with the occasional boost.

I really need a boost controler. Any recommendations? i really wanted the apexi avc-r, since i already have a apexi powerfc, and apexi turbo timer.

Yeah now that I'm thinking about it, only under a large load in 5th around 3500-3800 do I hit 12psi or so. I have fulll boost in normal conditions around 4000. I've never built more then 12 psi in first, the wheels spin before I can get there.

Opens wastegates are a lot of fun. However they make your ears ring if you're constantly on boost, which some times happens. The draw back is that your cheeks hurt from smiling soo much.

I use and HKS EVC IV, I don't need anything too fancy. Just a high and low setting. Hell I've had it unconnected for months though (after my engine install) and just went off the 12 psi spring in the wastegate. Spool was a touch slower but it never over boosted.

have fun

what manifold did you go with SSAC? if so, how was the fitment and the flange thinkness. sounds like you have your wastegate piped externally? i am looking to purchase this manifold so any feed back would be great.

yeah i did. the flanges were pretty thick and the welds were really nice. are far as fitment goes. I had to drill out all the holes just a hair bigger then they were to get the turbo, and manifold to fit perfectly.

the turbo kit i got was the "to4s 60-1" one. Which i dont think its true at all. The compressor housing looks tiny to alot of other turbos you see on rotarys. maybe looks like the same as to4e? i dont know? And it seems like the exhaust size (1.15 a/r) is too big, even for a ported motor it takes til past 4,000 to spool. I dont know tho, ill have to turn up the boost and take it to a dyno and see how it does. I think i bought the whole thing from them for 575.00 or something. or maybe 675.00.

6 psi.... you're gonna love it when that turbo is boosting when it's most efficient! Keep everyone up to date on how well the Ebay kit treats you.

Eh, im not too worried about it. turbos are easily replaceable. Its not like i spent 800+ on it, or even 500. or even close to that. I think the turbo was like 2-300. If it blows in the next 3,000 miles then so be it, good. It was worth it. Its alot funner and better than paying $50 to stand inline and wait for 5 (45 second) rides on a 20-50 mph roller coaster at disney land...haha

Bud,

keep us informed about your experiences. currently I am monitoring about 4 threads with members who bought the SSAC setups, and you are the second one (of the ones I am monitoring) that got it running. The other gent had problems at the 2000 km's mark with the thrust bearings and the compressor nut coming loose (he was boosting like 13 psi i think), so watch your stuff and keep us posted.

Oh and good luck.

kenn

I think it woudl be safe to say, if youre twins are goin out, and u need a replacement, and you wanna go single. This kit would be a good foundation. a starting point.

Then when u have more money you can upgrade to a name brand wastegate if you want, and a bigger turbo for sure. like what ill be doing.

At least youll know everythign works from time of install, for how long i dont know. But at least my turbo dosent smoke!
