dyno questions???

I just want to clarify some things that have been said from various sources......

On the dyno....what are the differences between STD and SAE? And does the sheet have to say "SAE Corrected" to be fully recognized? Is it the same if it says just "SAE"? My friends and I have been throwing this back and forth with no proof as to why or what.

Also.....what is the difference in power between saying that it's corrected or uncorrected? I've had a few people tell me that it's a 7% difference in power....i've heard others say that it's about 10-15rwhp difference (Crispeed in the KKK vs. T78 post).

thank you for anyone that can clear this up with some sort of backing.

"STD" should mean what you actually put down at the time.
"SAE" corrected factors in altitude, humidity, and ambient temperature.&nbsp These factors need to be manually inputted to the program, so it figures out what kinda power the car would put on "even ground" - this lets you compare you readings to someone else's dyno readings in a vastly different environment.

Someone in Alaska running at 20&#176F on some mountain at 7,000 feet elevation would be able to compare their dyno readings to someone in Florida running at 80&#176F with 90% humidity at sea level ("zero" feet elevation) - you can't compare raw numbers, but with the SAE correction factors, you can compare those numbers pretty evenly...

Ted is correct!
Always use the corrected graph to make comparisons.
Depending on conditions the std graph can be higher or lower than the corrected version so that's why the Standard of American Engineers came up with the correction factors to make it uniform etc.

thanks guys for the replys......now here is a more specific question. I'm including a dyno graph from my friends Supra that has on the side bars....SAE HP & TQ. Does this mean it's corrected or does it have to say "SAE corrected" for it to be done? Hope this doesn't sound too stupid..... i just want to make sure that the variables are lessened and we can get repeatable results.

RETed: Is there a way that I can get ahold of you to ask you some questions? I've got some questions on my car and I could use some good opinions. I'm painting my AE86 right now and in the process of doing a turbo kit for it.....I wanted to ask you some info on these if you know them also. Thanks....Elliott

Nah, it's not corrected.&nbsp It just states that the units are SAE quantified (versus German TUV or Japan JIS, for example).&nbsp In this case, it's the actual power and torque put down.&nbsp The key word to look for is "corrected" anywhere on the page, which would imply "adjusted for factors."&nbsp Did that make any sense?

Cool....thanks for all the info. This will answer alot of questions that have been asked.....and save alot of time in the future.

I'll send you an email as soon as i get my computer back online.....for some reason it's having a graphics card conflict and acts up only with email and videos. Strange stuff all of a sudden.
