Dyno and compressor map, thoughts?
Dyno and compressor map, thoughts?
I spent some hours last week on the dyno getting my car finally dialed it. The setup is a TEC HT200, electromotive tec3r, unported S5 motor, fuel, IC, etc etc. This was done on a dyno dynamics machine which, i am told by our engineer, reads 13-15% lower than a dynojet. Turbo experts, what do you think of this power and torque curve? I know a boost controller would give me a little more response on the bottom, but my profec was acting up and buzzing so i didn't want to risk it. Should i consider any changes in turbo sizing in order to get more midrange power? I am more than satisfied with the peak level for what i am using the car for at the moment.

a well tuned GT35 can make 200 rw rotary hp at 4000. you are making 112 at 4000 so you are light at midrange even considering stock ports.
your turbo could make 370 at one bar based on 49 pounds per minute. of course your peak hp was limited as you were running w the controller off.
IMO, your first step before considering turbo resizing would be to finish the process of being properly max-tuned.
good luck,

Thats an excellent spread of low end power and top end revs + power, the figure for the power is typical on that dyno system (but you need to disclose the boost?).
The maximum i have made on that dyno type is 436rwhp on a stock ported S5 engine running abut 25 to 26psi in the mid range with around 22psi at full revs, it was at that maximum power from 5200rpm to 8000rpm +- a few hp totaly flat, this was using a 57mm compressor wheel.
I am guessing you were only running around 12~14psi?

look that is line ball then with the stock ported S5 I described above power wise on that dyno
I was guessing a bit higher base boost for you of 12psi as we ran a very large turbine housing (1.32).you will find on the turbo with the porting that you will get a increase in top end rwhp but it will fill out the mid range to almost the same point (power wise) and you will end up with an amazing power range of basicaly FULL POWER for almost 3000rpm
the more boost you run especialy with a electronic boost controler with the gate function holding off untill near peak boost will add again to the mid range even more so it will only get better and better for you.so yeah, 430rwhp on that dyno system is a stupid quick car ! believe me I know

I used my own pre turbo water injection to get even more out of the relatively small compressor wheel BTW.
thanks! i just wanted to make sure i was on the right track, everyone in the shop has nissan motors and to them this turbo is HUGE. I was pretty sure my math was ok as far as sizing on this thing but i wanted to be sure that everything looked ok as far as spool to power level and the width of the powerband, hp vs tq etc.

Full tq and boost early on with great rev range and power is where you expect it on that dyno at that boost, will be a full on rocket once your get fully into it boost wise.

It looks like your Water pump belt is routed backwards. It needs to be routed on the inside. Not sure if this is a bad thing or not. D
Maybe I'm completely wrong since it's not a 13BREW?
