Dual Walbro Setup (and other fuel questions)

Hey all,

I have a 1990 FC with a forged 370ci LQ4 (6.0l) and a Turbonetics TC76 turbo. With the setup I'm hoping to hit 700RWHP.

My tentative plan for the fuel system is just 2 in tank Walbro 255 pumps with stock fuel lines, a Corvette fuel pressure regulator, and Injector Dynamics 1,000cc injectors.

My question is two fold:
1) Will the 255's be sufficient for my power levels and are the stock lines enough to flow that much fuel? (I understand 1 is generally good enough for 450HP but that number is not necessarily doubled by adding another);
2) How does one setup the pumps in the tank? I did my single Walbro almost a year ago so what it looks like is a little hazy, and I can only find info on FDs with this fuel setup.

My turbo maxes out at 725RWHP and I'm running an auto so I very well may be less than 700RWHP.

Thanks!

Quick pictures of the car and motor (engine is not done):

I bet you could get away with a single bosch 044

fitting 2 pumps under a FC lid is tough, at least with my convertible it is- not sure how different the coupe lid is

if E85 is even a possibility build the fuel system for it now because the injectors and the pumps wont be sufficient

I'm definitely not running E. We've got a lot of it around here but I want to be able to take this car up to my cabin, etc. and there's no stations up there. I'll be happy with 91.

I'd like to hear from someone on how much a pain fitting them will be. I've read of a lot of people with them but they never post about their experiences. Maybe that's a good thing lol

I'm running dual walbro 255 in my system right now, It dropped in just as easily as the single pump did. Are you planning on running dual feed lines out of the tank or just run the single stock line out? I placed a Y connector under the lid and ran them both to the single stock line then split it at the engine compartment for a dual feed to each fuel rail. Of course this is on a rotary. What you have is one beast of a motor. If you are worried about the walbros not being enough. Aeromotive makes a new intank pump that's the same size as the walbro and flows 340lph which depending on you boost level a single aeromotive should be more than enough, they claim up to 1000hp support NA
And believe me having twin walbros pumping away in the back of the car gets a little annoying after awhile.

Its pretty easy on an FC. I've used the stock return as the 2nd walbros feed( cut the hardline and slip on the rubber hose, just like the OEM unit), and ran a new SS braided line in the past.

Looks like fun, you should bring it out to Cars and Coffee once its done...

Thank you for the information... also quite helpful. I got my pump in the mail today along with some other goodies so I'm going to get it figured out this weekend.

I will definitely be down there next summer. I brought the car down for July. My buddy lives in Buffalo so I normally just chill there for the weekend.

I'm going to wire it so if a pump goes bad then it cuts ignition. I will also have a fuel pressure gauge. Also I only need 15lbs of boost for 700RWHP

remember one thing- when you build the fuel system with e85 in mind keep in mind that it will require more fuel.
So if you are using parts for 1000hp its now only 700hp, same for the injectors

Just a note on the dual walbros from my own experience. If you're using Turblown's method of using the return as a secondary fuel line please ignore. If you're using a return type corvette fpr with the y connector and dual pumps watch your fuel pressure. When the second pump kicks in on mine it outflows the return capabilities of my sard fpr and pressure rapidly increases making it quite a hassle to tune. Aeromotive fpr next on my shopping list . Or just have the second come on under wot and your golden i suppose.
