down pipe

I have an 87 TII with a stock turbo and am planning to fab a down pipe and exhaust this weekend. My question is if I use 3" pipe how much will I I have to reduce it to haxe a smooth transition from the exhaust side of the turbo to the down pipe?
Thanks guys,
John

The stock turbo has a 2 1/2" outlet. You'll usually get a quicker response if you post a question like this in the 2nd gen forum.

Thanks figured the size out last night after getting a lot of the stuff apart. I have a huge exhaust leak and am now getting no boost. I thought it was the down pipe but that seems to be in pretty good shape. Will remove the tubo and manifold tonight. Typically where do the manifolds crack? BTW the second gen forum seems to talk more about body kits and headlight conversions... While you guys seem to be more tech oriented. Hope I'm not offending anyone.

I remember the 2nd gen forum having alot of tech stuff, but I haven't looked at it in a long time. The manifold usually cracks on the turbo side and the engine side near the edges, or sometimes inside the manifold.
