The faster my car gets (started with a 172rwhp n/a FC, now a 386 rwhp T2), the slower I drive it in a way. If you don't learn to do that, you will end up dead/hurt or arrested eventually. When putting the pedal to the floor gets you twice the speed limit in 2 or 3 seconds, you learn to be really careful when you do it.

Not only that, having a street car that fast just changes your perspective on speed. I never go more than 10 over in my daily driver, a Q45 which is a low 15 second car (respectable for a daily). What's the point? When you have a fast turbo 7, everything else feels like Geo. It's almost sad how desensitized you become to speed... I've been around enough fast cars now that it takes about 600 to the wheels for me to be like "holy ****."

^^ You know, I know where you are coming from.. I am rarely more than 5-10mph in my DD. A 350Z!! I almost feel like I am caging it a bit. I don't really even drive the 7 that fast anymore, I don't feel like I need to. I know that it is up for most anything that anyone would bring to it. I only really get into the throttle when I know NO ONE else is really around. Like you said, it gets going 2-3x the limit VERY quickly and I just don't need anymore of those tickets. Not to mention it is just not very intelligent. That is why they make race tracks...

Being in the midwest there are all these guys with thier F-bodies, mustangs, vettes and although they sound great and I enjoy those too, a lot of them are just almost laughable when compared to the 7. But I smile, let them have their fun and go on knowing how much I love my car.

when you have a car that can run with typical hondas and maybe stock F-bodies, you are tempted to street race all the time to see how you match up. When you have a 400whp setup, why bother? Although I do get an itch when I see a Viper or a 911 turbo... but i always see those when i'm in the daily, not in the 7 haha. Probably better off that way though.

I feel the same as you. It actually makes me want to drive the car less. I feel like it is kind of a waste. Something with that kind of power really should be used at the track. Its not to say that it isnt fun to drive on the street but as you said one good second gear pull in a residential street and you are doubling or tripling the speed limit, which depending on the cop who catches you, could mean imprisonment.

400rwhp is plenty for a car under 3k in weight, most cars with more like M5, SL65, etc... all weight much much more. i dynoed 450rhwp and i cant catch traction in 3 if i do WOT starting in 1st, thats with 275 rear tires, but you know what? i dont really care, lol, im doing some more stuff and shooting for 600rhwp.

im in the process of starting a highway/street warrior build. its all planning for the next few years, but im looking at making around 450rwhp. a custom fitted/modified widebody to house some fat tires (inspiration from those pretty turbo porsches), upgraded driveline to keep it reliable and of couse a suspension setup to control it all. after that its all safety mods, like custom rollcage.just because you have the power available, doesnt mean its always there. 25-30 psi with alkyinjection will give me the power i want for the highway, and 10-15 will keep it reasonable for the city.

of cousre 400 hp on an improper suspention is jsut stupid. remember, every action has an equal reaction. i say build the body before the engine.

Over 500 to the wheels here on stock R1 suspension, can hook up in every gear including 1st on 255 Khumo MX street tires.

ok. i guess ill eat my words on that 1. even though the R1 suspension was designed to control quite a bit of power. try doin that with the basic suspention and tell me how well that works.

Sorry but i gotta call the BS flag. Im on Pole Position 275 rear and if i WOT 1st and ease it so i get traction, as soon as soon as i shift in to 2nd and WOT again it will brake loose the whole way through 2nd if i keep it WOT, and it will do that a bit into 3rd. thats at 14psi only, a little 400rwhp. I have the whole Rx7 store traction control kit, solid motor and diff mount, trans brace, kazz diff, Apexi coilver, etc to back it up. im sorry your either just BSing, dont have that much power, runing ET semi slicks, or found the golden egg people are looking for when it comes to traction.

Believe what you want, but its true. Lots of weight transfer with the worn out suspension and late spool with the T88. Car was tuned by Steve Kan on a Dynapack, made 512 rwhp, look at my old posts. I do have solid motor mounts, diff brace, rotary extreme toe links and trailing arms, kazz diff, and 300M axles under the back.

i dont understand your post, so you did that run with worn out suspension and it help you get traction? and you mention the late spool, so you didn't have any power till ike 4500rpm?
I have all the parts to help me launch you have, solid mounts, chromoly axels, kazz, etc... I dont see how you can take off with no wheel spin, even 300hp car is hard to do , heck honda civics can do that at WOT.

A stiff suspension doesn't all the weight to transfer to the back wheels. More weight on the back wheels = more traction, obviously. It is a late spool, later than i want, but its what i have and turbos are expensive. Here is my dyno chart http://www.indyhp.com/media/pics/512dyno-hpvstq.jpg.

YOU can always have too much power. Just not enough traction

and just remember no matter what power you put to your car there is always someone out there faster than you!

I will be happy with 400hp. I have been in countless Vette's and those seemed GREAT at the time. Now just tuning my car at half the boost, I already know my FC when at full boost will be much faster then any type of C5 vette and hopefully will give a C6 a run for its money. More power will only mean deeper pockets!

Kind of off topic, but needs corrected.

285's fit just fine on stock suspension pieces. 315's will fit on the rear as well, if the offset on the wheel is right.

I have had 2 400+ HP daily drivers now, and I have to say, it's not enough.

i think mainly because its a thread that should be adressed to the fellow owners that want 1000hp

plus its always asked so what better than to justkeep the thread open for anyone who tends to ask the same thing over and over and over over and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and overover and over and over
