Discussion on the topic of air to water intercoolers.
Does anyone have experience with using an air/water intercooler, and in what application did you use it? I am thinking of installing one and pumping the water threw a transmission/s oil cooler. I don’t plan on drag racing my car, but if I ever decide on tracking it… it might be fun to load up on ice water? Will an air to water intercooler be or less efficient in dissipating constant thermal heat than an air intercooler? I’m in the process of researching this topic and plan to update this thread regularly.
Thanks in advance.

I have an air-to-water, came with the Cartech kit.
It is pretty small, but from what I hear that they are quite a bit smaller than air-to-air.
Sorry, forgot to include that this is on a TII block, IDF carb and T76 turbo in an FB.

I just found a great link that contains a great deal of good info.
http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~gavinp/airwater.htm
It appears that he is able to maintain a stable 35C intake temp, where as his stock intake temp was around 70C.
Key things of interest
* Benefits of air/water IC
* Model of a quiet water pump (Jabsco 18510-0020) better than the water puppy
* A list of links of interest.

air to water is good for drag racing for one major reason, as u said u can put ice in the water and get some really cold temps. road racing i dont have any experiance with, but my personal oppionon is if its a race car go for it, if u drive it everyday its jus somthing else that can go wrong. thats jus my .02
