Different boost problem, help please!
Ok so I posted this in the third gen section and it wasn't getting attention so I figured I'd try my luck here.
So my car was tuned to 20psi, everything was great all day. Near the end of the day I notice my boost is trailing off towards redline. Before this it would hold a solid 20psi all the way to 7500rpms.
Now, no matter what the boost controller is set it, it will lose 3-5psi as I get to redline. I've tried a new boost controller, redoing all couplers, etc. I replaced a few vacuum caps, and when I was out testing it I blew one of them off. And even with it off I would make 15psi, and then it would still trail off towards redline.
Anyone have any clue what could be causing this? What happened today makes me think it isn't just a boost leak. Any help would be appreciated!

No boost leaks? Did you take all the couplers and pipes off and reconnect them all? Did you pressure test it? If you did, describe how you did it and how much PSI you were pumping in with what kind of compressor.
What turbo? Could be turbo is running out of "huff."

No logs, rx7store tuned it. No boost leaks anymore. I did a pressure test by capping the turbo and putting my compressor line on a fitting. Got about 10psi through it before it would blow the cap off the turbo. Did this with my 60 gal compressor. Turbo is from the gotham racing gr63 kit.

Doesn't hold boost at any psi. At 16psi it would drop to about 10-12. Here's a picture of the plugs I just pulled and replaced yesterday (if it matters/helps any).
edit: the plugs pictured arent b10egv's.. just letting everyone know so there isnt any confusion, im just running 9's all around.

I've tried a few manual boost controllers all with the same results. Jason-- I'll try that tomarrow I guess.

Do what Jason asked and stop trying random things.
1) remove boost controller and run WG off of manifold/post turbo reference only. For a Tial and most other WGs that would mean venting the TOP port, and use the side port right off the compressor housing.
2) whatever your spring pressure is, that is what you should see for boost. If 10, then you should be able to hold 10. If not, check for leaks or defective WG.
3) let the data/results drive what you try next. Random stuff like spark plugs or ignition control don't fit in yet.

Yeah, well people telling me to run with no vac source to the wastegate.. yeah that was a bad idea. Anyways after watching my boost gauge fly.. I think I've determined that I have a boost leak.
I used two boost gauges, my normal one on the UIM, and then one attached to my turbo.
As the boost dropped at the manifold, it held solid at the turbo. I had the controller set to about 16-17psi, and at redline, the gauge hooked up at the TURBO was still reading 17psi, and the gauge hooked up to the manifold read about 13-14psi. Am I wrong here?

About the method of testing your WG and it being a bad idea, did you follow directions or did you adlib and disconnect the wrong hose?

You have a shop owner giving you advice after the sale...and you ignore it or don't follow it right.
You have people who are trying to support you in the forum, and you waste their time by not listening.
The only good thing to come out of your problem is the knowledge that your buddy Coltboosting acutally may have some good problem solving skills and was able to impart some on you on the boost leak issue.
If I was going to start with name calling it would start with "dense."
You might need to expand your vocabulary a little bit and get some more descriptive words into your own lexicon.

I followed Jason's advice, he said my boost controller was broken, and then to take then to uninstall the boost controller.
And silly boy? Wow. I knew this forum had some ******** on it, but I think this is the first experience I've had with one. I hope you enjoy making fun of people on an online forum. Have a nice life.

And evidently it's not a boost leak problem after all. Did a pressure test up to 17 lbs, found one leak. Fixed it and went out for a drive. Still doing the same exact thing. In third gear it would go from 15psi at 4500rpms to about 11psi at redline. In fourth it wasn't as bad. 15psi at 4500rpms and maybe 13.5-14psi at redline.

Reread the advice. Get somebody else to read it with you and explain it. Try to remember the conversations and what people told you. Try following it. Stop acting like a child and a idiot.
