Costs for going to single

Ok, basically, I want to push 400hp to the wheels for my daily driver. I know you cannot produce this on stock twins (even if you do, you're engine is gone after a few weeks) so I'm looking at single setup. I would like to price out everything that I'd need so I can estimate the cost of everything I need to get it installed tuned and running. My current mods are:

MODS

-Power/Drivetrain-

*Greddy Intakes
*PFS Intercooler
*HKS Mild Steel DP
*Racing Beat Dual Tip Exhaust
*RPS Performance clutch (street disc with a sport pressure plate)
*Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Pulleys, anodized blue

-Cooling-

*M2 Radiator
*Aluminum AST

-Guages/Electronics-

*Greddy Profec B spec ii in a custom akiratdk din plate
*Greddy turbo timer
*Blitz boost guage in a RE-A steering column pod
*White faced gauges, reverse glow with dead needles

-Suspension/Misc-

*51R Battery Tray
*Ebay Torque Brace
*Ebay Strut Tower Bar
*Tokico Struts
*SO-3 Pole Position tires w/80% tread
*HKS blowoff valve
*Fan switch mod
*California Car Cover, custom fit cover

-Exterior/Appearance-

*Efini emblems
*Painted R1 lip
*Feed headlight cover
*Intake piping, UIM, battery tie downs, and AST have been powder coated wrinkle black
*Glossy black interior panels
*RE-Amemiya replica carbonfiber tail light cover
*Custom license plate frame “I love my zoom! zoom!”

Looks like you need turbo setup, fuel system, ECU.

Looks like you have most of it, but PFS IC, I hope its the big "race"one. The standard size PFC SMIC is a little hot box. You may get one pass at 400 hp but look out for the heat soak and the high air intake temps.

Did you ever think of a V mount IC ? I have a FMIC but I drag race the car. The v-mount is a very nice compromise. Your rad will get air and so will your IC.

Be prepared to spend about 6k and up when it done

This is a pic of my engine bay

The bay gets extremely hot for just daily driving (no kind of racing) and some few hard accelerations but nothing extreme. My radiator fans kick in every time when I get home even if I went for a little 5 minute drive.

6k for the whole kit/ic or 6k just for the ic?

Cause I'm thinking turbo kit (I don't know which one would be best for what I want), PFC ~ $850, Rotary Extreme Monster V-Mount IC kit around 3k installed, what else do I need?

Thats a nice set up you have , looks like my old one . I couldnt get more than 360 out of twins. That PFS IC is nice but it does get hot .

I dont have my new fuel system on in this photo, but I am about 90% done. I wont count how much I put into it, but 6k is conservative estimate.

Yea it gets expensive. especially when your trying to do it right the first\last time. I spent 2000 on just my fuel setup.. those fittings get expensive and add up quick...

I cheated and got my T78 setup for cheap, but i also had to get a new engine. I ended up spending about 10k for it all. But i had a front mount already. So 10-12k would not be out of the question

you should have just bought a single turbo rx7 instead of that one a month ago. would be cheaper. look to spend about 5k on parts - turbo kit, intercooler, ignition, tuning

Here is a rundown of the basic single setup and this is the low side.

Single Turbo $2000
Intercooler $900
Fuel System $625
Fuel Pump $200
Power FC $1000
Exhaust $400
Ignition $300

Total of $5425. That is for all new parts. You can save a few if you go with used.
Also does not include labor.

I think it really depends on how you go about it. I have been gathering all the parts i need for my single setup for a few months now. All i really have left is the fuel system, downpipe, and misc parts for the motor. I have purchased alot of my parts from people in the for sale section.

Here is a price breakdown so far as to what i have spent

Greddy 2 row with hks blow off valve - $400.00
SSautochrome manafold - $90.00
T04R turbo (brand new) - $850.00 (new)
Tial 44mm wastegate w/ vbands,flanges, and dump tube - $260.00
Radiatorworld race radiator - $260.00 (new)
HKS exhaust - $250.00 (new)
Power FC - $850.00 (new)
Dattalogit - $250.00
MSD ignition - $60.00 (swap meet)
Denso fuel pump - $100.00
ACT Clutch - $450 (new)
Aeriomotive FPR - Free (Christmas Present)

I have the motor out right now and am going to do all the work myself. Buying the turbo kinda set me back money wise so now i need to gather up some more for the rest of the fuel system and blockoff plates. The stock twins were trashed when i pulled them off so im glad i decided to go the single route.

I had everything you had when I went single, except I had a Greddy 2-Row. In the end I got an XS Engineering T04e kit Used for 1800, 1300cc's for around 200, Power FC for 800, Tial Blow-Off Valve 250, and tuned for about 500. Keep in mind since you are local you could just hit up Rotary Extreme and they'll quote you for everything. Also you can sell your intercooler and radiator if you go V-mount, and you can sell your stock twin stuff too.

BTW is this Jason's old car?
