Cosmo 13B

Hi guys i got bumped of the first gen forum with this question;

Ive got a Cosmo 13B street port engine, the TT is being removed and im trying to source compressor & turbine combiation suggestions prior to my doing the math and mapping one myself.

yeah thats what was also suggested in the first gen forum, as im new to this i was after a little more information;

ive checked out this site http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=GRT it gives the options for turbine housing A/R so i was wondering which one people would suggest? also things like divided exhaust vs non-divided and internal wastegate vs external?

Once i get some numbers ill start to play around. just need pointing in the right direction. Cheers

There are several options that can get you there. The 35r is popular now. Sean at A-spec has a 3574 that is non BB and has good results. I have had good results w/ a 60-1 from turbonetics. I also picked up a T67 from mustang guy for cheap. It spools a little slower than my 60-1, but it also has a .96 hot side in comparison to the .84 my 60-1 has. Just depends on what you are wanting the car to do. There are tons of options and most have been covered on here. I would call several places, search on here and come to a decision. There are several threads on this.

That kit you show from rx7store is for a FD. I would doubt it will fit the first gen, but I cannot say for sure because my experience is with 2nd and 3rd gen. You are probably going to have to piece together something. Maybe some first gen guys will chime in.

1st gen body, 13bt, with fd cast manifold (hks) works with all 60-1 clones and smaller. But you cannot fit the airpump on with it unless you make new brackets and use a different belt.

ask sean at aspec and he will probably sell you the kit with the HKS mani vice the tubular if you ask him nicely.

edit; matt just saw that you are from AU. you might need to make a 10~15mm spacer between the turbo and the manifold to space it out a tad as you are probably RHD.

I started mine as such and then later converted to the 2nd gen front crossmemeber. It made life much easier after I swapped the front end.

It depends on the use if you ask me.

Street/Strip go ahead and run with the GT35R
Racetrack I would lean towards the 3574 or similar non BB

I also suggest around a 1.0A/R for whatever turbo you are looking at for your normal street tune.

Yeah buts its not as bad as you might think, I originally used the stock manifold and turbo for the TII engine, I just had to flip the manifold and install it upside down and it cleared the steering gear box, the FD manifold on the other hand is already forward mid mount, so it should clear the steering gear box with no issues, after that its simply the LIM and UIM that you need to worry about.

cheers
