Question Considering going single, have some questions

Ok, I know this topic has been covered and I have ready many other post but just wanted to ask a few questions again....
I have had problems with my stock twins and have not been able to fix the transition problem so I have been running non-sequential... I have spent a good deal of time researching the problem, still no fixy yet... At the same time I have always wanted to add a single turbo to my car. I guess the idea of cleaning up the bay area not to mention less trouble shooting in the future with the possibilites of bigger HP numbers is enticing. I will be looking for a kit that I can run on my stock port motor. I am sure a street or race port is in the future. My goal for now is to have a reliable turbo system and add a few more ponies. My car is driven 3-5k miles a year MAX! I would say there are 30k miles on the motor..

if you give us some goals to shoot for we can help a little more. such as: hp, drivability, affordablity, what its used for, ect... its much easier then.

1. So say 400hp area for now.
2. Car is drive just for fun, so drivabilty is really not a major concern but I am not looking for a trailer queen.
3. Price, well best bang for the buck.. Have been looking at the t04s and gt35/40..
4. Will hit the drag strip a few times but I am not chasing numbers. I will track the car on a few lap seasons. Mostly just out for a ride and see if anyone wants to play!

if you need to pass emission the Apexi RX6 is a great choice. it retains the Smog pump and is ball bearing so it spools fast and its not bad for about 380 HP. The GT3540 I have is also very sweet but i dont know if it can retain the air pump (smog) with the new manifold or not. Ask Steve or Sean at A-spec tuning in chicago. They make the Kits. I love mine.

The to4r also sounds like a good turbo to go with you could make a little more power then the to4s

Shooting for 400 horsepower is not a "few more ponies" it is a major power increase. With those stock ports I would suggest what I have the TO4S. The TO4R would make a slight more power theoretically but the TO4S will mate with the stock ports better, in my opinion.

I have stock ports and looking for around 400 but I may not get that unless I port my motor.

Plus, with the TO4S you get a complete kit and they are dirt cheap to rebuild unlike the GT35/40.

Garrett, Whom did you buy your kit from and at what price? I am about 99% sure I am going with the gt35 kit due to the quality of A-spec's kit compared to the other ones I have seen on here. Also I really like the quick spool time. I have searched on here and not found many if any people who had to get the turbo rebuilt (center section replaced) at an early stage. Also A-spec has the kits on sale for 2999 and thats as cheap as I have seen the t04s kits with quality manifolds and comparable wastegate. So it seems like that is the smart choice due to getting a more exspensive turbo at the same price.
