Compressor PSI vs Turbine PSI

Was looking around and ran across a neat thread on a Buick fourm talking about compressor outlet pressure being higher than turbine inlet pressure. I tought to my self, is this possible to increase the pressure across the turbo? The only conclusion that I could come up with is the fact that you have a larger volume of air comeing out of the exhaust than you do going into the intake, not only because of thermal expansion but also because of the chemical reaction inside the chamber increasing the amount of molicuels present in the exhaust. I know that pressure is nothing without flow but would it be practical to run a turbine large enough to fall into this kind of condition or is this not a uncommon occurrence. Have any of you actually measured TIP vs COP and what were your findings?
