Vote two for the Exedy Hyper single. It'll hold 500hp no issues. Initially a bit tough to get used to driving around town but as it breaks in it gets better. Allows for shifts that take half the time compared to an ACT Extreme street/strip. Very crisp.

I am liking my Exedy Hyper Single, too. It was a bit hard to get used to at first, but I am used to it now and it's no problem on the street. I think it has gotten easier to drive through the break-in, too. You can't slip it much or it will chatter, but that isn't much of a problem. The engagement is satisfyingly crisp. I feel confident that it is not slipping, unlike my old clutch which I suspected would slip at full boost.

If you cant slip it when you start off, how do you without chirping your tires?

Sorry to ask, but I havent had any experience with clutches like that (except new 'regular' ones which slip a little anyay.

It does slip a little, and it also has a sprung hub. But it would be a bad idea to sit on a hill and try to hold yourself in place by slipping the clutch. When you start moving from a stop in normal driving, you just engage and go at an RPM/power level that isn't going to chirp the tires.

vote three for the exedy hyper single.

i have 3000 miles on it and love it. it is built like a double disc so it is unlike other resprung OEM clutches. do a search for info.

Except for the fact that it sounds like he is on a budget, I agree. On a budget, I am going to try the sprung six puck Spec Clutch. ~350.00 with a clutch tool, and both bearings. Carl

I do *NOT* recommend these.

They are a cheap rip off of a quality part. They are more or less using our name (something that sounds like our name) and selling CRAP.

As for a good setup for the FD, I highly recommend the Twin Metallic, a *true* street clutch with smooth engagement.

If you are on a budget, try our "Stage 2", it's a 3-puck *sprung* hub complete with P.Plate, disc and all bearings.

I would stay away from a puck style clutch for a street driven car. Even the sprung puck clutches are grabby and will start to chatter when they get some age on them. I had the ACT street/strip heavy duty pressure plate combo on my car making 442rwhp with no issues. Great clutch at a great price. However if you plan on spending alot of time at the drag strip with slicks on, you might look for something a bit more.

Another vote for the Exedy hyper single. Great quality, great durability, and like others have said it isn't bad at all for street use once you get used to it.

I've been trying to pay close attention to my Hyper Single and its slippability lately. You can slip it and engage it smoothly. It's just that you don't want to slip it a lot. A little slip while you are engaging it is no problem. Trying to move the car by slipping it with no intention of engaging it fully will make it chatter.
