Car wont start...please help
I posted this in the 3rd gen specific forum where it belongs, but the IQ per capita is a little higher in here, I think
Here's my scenario...
The car has been down for awhile and pretty much everything in the car has been taken out and put back in at one point. I get everything back together and go to start the car...nothing. Starter isn't cranking. Checked voltage on battery and it was dead. Bought new battery, starter still won't crank. Also, something really weird happened when I tried to start it. I would insert the key in the ignition, turn it to ON and leave it. The ABS light, charge battery light, coolant and oil warning lights are all on. After about 10 seconds the coolant buzzer goes on and stays on. This is with the key just in the ON position.
Next I checked the voltage to the positive terminal 'B' on the starter, reads at 27.0. Next I checked the voltage at terminal 'S' with the key in the start position. No voltage. So the manual says to check the ignition switch. So now I think that I might have f*cked up the install on the turbo timer (dunno how thats possible though ). So I remove the turbo timer harness from the ignition switch. Now when I put the key in the ignition nothing happens! No lights, no buzzer, no nothing...just black. ****, so I put the harness back in and switch the key to ON, and I get the warning lights and stuff again...but the actual timer isnt installed, just the harness.
Now, as per the shop manual, I've checked continuity on the ignition switch. This is where I'm confused... Now, with the key in the START position, the manual says there should be continuity between terminals B1 & IG2 and B2 & ST. My multimeter reads like 7.80 ohms when I put the key in the START position and connect the terminals. Does this mean I have a bad ignition switch?
Please help dudes!

check your main fuseable links, all of them....you might have left something unplugged??? doublecheck all your connections where you worked...what year is the car??? if the ignition switch worked before , i dont see how it could break from sitting!
if you moved or played around with any of the electrical, back track to make sure everything is in order. also, make sure your grounds are good. i had a problem with killing batteries, later found out that ground strap was loose. drove me nuts.
I checked all the ground points as outlined in the shop manual. That part of the wiring harness was never removed, so...
In the shop manual it says to check the ignition switch by checking continuity between a couple terminals with the key in the START position. But all it says is to 'check continuity'. Does that mean that there SHOULD be continuity between the terminals, or SHOULD NOT be continuity?
With the switch in the ON position there is not continuity. With the switch in the START position, there is.
Bottom line is the starter isnt getting voltage when I turn the key to START. Shop manual says it could only be the ignition switch or harness. The harness is fine...and I'm pretty sure the switch is to.
WTF IS WRONG!!?!?!?!?!?
