Can I use over sized intercooler pipes?

Ok I have gotten a freebee from a friend in the form of intercooler pipes for my 83 gs. Thing is the Pipe is 2 1/2" and my turbo and intake are 2" can i use these oversized pipes to run a front mount intercooler? or will there be a loss of some sort? I cant afford any power loss.

you won't "lose" power, you might lose throttle response.

You can mount a coupler/reducer on the compressor/intercooler pipe connection.
