Can anyone give me some info on this turbo?

I just got this turbo because I had my stock ones rebuilt and they came apart, so they gave me this for the warranty. I don't know anything about it. What is it? What kind of hp can I get out of it on my ported mortor at 15-18psi??

measure the dimensions of the wheels for us.

is .58 on the turbine side the A/R? If it is then you got a shitty deal on the warranty. .58 is waaaay too small for us.

ar is relative tot he size of the turbo. if thats a big turbo like a gt40r or something then its probably right on with the ar.

IT has on oncenter housing which means it is not your common tangenel design.. On center is not desired.

It has too small an A/R for a rotary on the turbine side also.

So the turbine is completely wrong for a rotary.

Maybe two of them would work...heh.

i would take it back to the warranty company, and ask them for either a better setup (60-1? 62-1?) or some more rebuilt twins, or the cash for it.

Why would they give you that turbo for warentee work? Furthermore, why would you except it if you didnt know what it was?

The shop closed down and gave me a set of loaner turbos. The loaners were junk and just blew oil, so they called me up and said that I could have a single turbo for free... sounded good. He didn't know what it was, but said it was custom built. It was better than nothing... which I would have gotten otherwise. Is this some type of T04, gt series, or what? Thanks for your help!

Can't tell you exactly what it is with questimated tape measure measurements. Specs between wheels are in the thousands of an inch and a tape (especially just held up to the mouth or disscharge and not actually on the wheels) won't cut it. You'll have to pull off the compressor and turbine housings and use a precision mic or calipers. We'll need to know both the minor and major diameters of both compressor and turbine wheels.

BUT, just by looking at the pics, I can tell you a couple things. First, its NO GOOD for a rotary, period. Its a T4 framed turbo. It looks like its a T04E (.50 A/r) housing thats been bored out extensivly for the compressor wheel to fit. The compressor isn't a T04B nor is it a T04E, all the T04B's I've seen are 8 paired inducer blades, and all the T04E's have 6 paired inducer blades. It could be a 60-1 wheel (they have 7 paired inducer blades). But several other turbo compressors have 7 paired blades, so don't hold your breath on the 60-1 part. The 6.30.03 is a manufacture date of the compressor housing. It is a "dry" center.... dry meaning theres no water provisions. Its most likely a standard bushing/sleeve type bearing, and NOT a ball bearing unit. The full ball bearing units don't look like that. As already stated, the .58 A/R is On-Center and is bad for flow (both spool and top end) not to mention .58 in a T4 frame is just WAY too small for a rotary. Hard to tell on the turbine specs, but I'm guessing its a O trim turbine going by your crued measurements, again, an O trim is too tiny for a rotary.

All in all sell it or give it back, its useless on a rotary without even knowing any more about it.

If the turbine turnes out to be a P-trim (it will have a 2.922" major and 2.544" minor wheel diameters, and the compressor is a decient sized, you could use it if you get a larger A/R and tangical turbine housing. I would get the proper compressor housing too, but the one on there will work fine.

Like I said, use someting precise to measure it, it still may work on your car if the turbine and compressor are sizable enough and you replace the turbine housing with a tang .84, 1.0, 1.15 A/R divided or .96 non divided housings. If the wheels are too small then look for a place to sell it.

BTW.... this ---> http://www.turbochargers.com/Turbos...grades/TRex.htm is NOT the same turbo, not even close........
