I brought the car to the shop today and took a look at the motor. They'll be swapping it in and I'll be driving in no time.
1k miles with no boost :*(
I'm going to try and fix this darn manifold. It will still be worth it I think. $100 plus some labor vs $850 for a custom manifold.

Update: the new motor and turbo are installed. I just need to get the group buy air pump deletion pulley kit, and it is good to go (1000mile break in).
I went ahead and sprung for an exedy twin plate.

Good thread! Are you planning on doing a compression test any time during and/or after break-in? I posted mine awhile back in the 'New Malloy motors' thread. I got 131psi on front rotor and 129psi on the rear @ 700miles. Did an oil change at 400 miles and another at 1000. I'm currently at about 1200 miles on the new motor and have just started to go WOT. I'll be going back for dyno tuning soon and will get another compression test just to see if it got any better(or worse). I'm interested to see your numbers as well. Good luck with the build!

That IC is going to most likely heat soak after not too long on the track. If that is your intention, IDK. We had to make a new setup for a customer here because his car would just see too high of temps at the track, couple laps and then done. Even after two pulls on the dyno we had to let it cool.
We made the IC below and problem is gone. AIT's were down significantly way more stable and no more heatsoak issues on the dyno.
And no it doesn't retain the AC. (for all those who will want to know) If you need AC on a track car your not trying hard enough

I'm not fond of front mounts, nor the price of V-Mounts. I also retained the AC as this is a dual-purpose vehicle. SO, my plan is to install pre-turbo mechanical WI system and see what the IAT's look like; I will be logging them. I may also experiment with some meth/water mixtures. If the IATs are still too high, I will likely install a W2A IC system.
Question: Last night I drove the car about 20 miles. mostly cruising at around 3 k rpm. When I parked at my house, lots of smoke came out of the bay. This was from the down-pipe wrap (no biggie) - But the turbo hotside was glowing very bright.... I did not exceed -1psi of vacuum. The ambient temps were in the 50s. I opened the glove box to check my exhaust gas temp gauge and learned that the shop did not reconnect it to the new motor. So I couldn't tell if this is a lean situation... Any thoughts?

did the first oil change today...
i yanked the tan carpet so I could more easily work out some wiring issues with the stereo and gauges. I have black carpet going in after all the wiring is cleaned up.
The clutch sure does chatter a lot when disengaged.. Anyone else have an exedy twin plate? Is that normal, and is it temporary?

So I've worked out a few issues here and there with wiring and such. The car is going in for a 13 psi tune this week. AI not yet installed and I think I will do that later; prior to another tune to a higher psi.
Since day one, the new motor has idled rock solid with no wandering. It has been running smooth and I have not noticed any significant changes over the course of the break in period.

I had to pull the turbo and manifold to replace the T4 gasket. It had blown because only 3 of the 4 bolts were still there.
You know that $100 XSpower manifold (pic in post 27)? Well it has held up so far (2,500 hard miles). I have had no issues with boost creep, so I decided to go ahead and wrap the sucker..
Note the brass oil drain line.. See how close it is the flange????
I'm glad I pulled the turbo, because rubber oil drain line was black and cracking.. "cooked" I would say... Here is the heat shield that was on the rubber line.
Here is the hard line up close.. It is so close to the flange there is no way to prevent the line from physically making contact. I have an angled aluminum fitting on the way, which I will likely weld even longer to move the rubber line further away from heat.

Car is still conservatively set to 16psi and putting down 370whp.
Next project is to finish installing these ugly headlights and then set up a home made air intake isolated from the engine bay. While doing the intake I'll also be installing a "dudemaaan" mechanical water injection, pre-turbo. Then more boost and 400+whp.
