I should be getting tuned some time soon and I want to make sure I have all my bases covered. What ignition set up are you using? Coils, spark plugs, and ignition boxes, etc.. Thanks.

stock coils, xs enginering powerpak, HKS 11.5 race, 10mm magnacor wires...

although I'm only currently at 430whp at 15psi, but adding alky injection for 500+whp...sick of buying c16 at 11.5 a gallon for more than 20psi

That's a nitrous spooled T-88 in the first picture, which was good for around 600whp, which was the previous owner's set-up. For the last 2 years, I ran a T-61 at 23.5 lbs of boost on 104 unleaded and made around 500whp. I am currently breaking in a fresh, race ported motor with a T-61 BB Q-trim 1.0a/r, and am planning to tune 26 lbs of boost on VP109 unleaded. It is going to scream!

My current set up is:
PT74 turbo with GTS wheel
Microtech LT8
Dual Supra Pumps, 850/1600 injectors
-10 feed line, -6 return
Big port, dowled, and pinned.
Stock Coils
Magnacore wires
Basically I got just about everything covered to shoot for 600rwhp except for the ignition. Shooting to boost 30psi on C16 and see how close I can get to my goal.

Havn't finished tuning yet , so I'm not making the 550 RWHP YET ! , although I think it shouldnt be too difficult for me, any way I learnt from mine and a good friends experiences (he made 618RWHP@30psi) that MSD isnt good above 25psi , in my case it wasnt good over 15psi and 6500rpm's ! I had 2 6A's on the leading coils , and a DIS2 on the trailing , the 4 coils were turbo II , he had one 6A on the lead and 2 more on the trailings with TII coils alround, this took him to 25psi , he then added another 6a to the lead and changed all the coils to MSD blaster SS and went back to the dyno , he did not make any more power 'cause as soon as it hit 30 psi it began to break up and misfire!
I sold all my MSD stuff and got the Autronic R500 CDI , 4 new MSD blaster SS coils and new Magnecore wires , I have not had a problem since except that the clutch began slipping and the boost went up 5 more psi on its own ! , I have logged 8300 rpm's and there is no break up WHATSOEVER , I have even increased my water injection duty cycle 5% overall and there is no problem ! (I set up the 500R to switch to its high power setting when W.I. starts... yes it's output is switchable from 460V to 505 !), the R500 box IS PRICEY , but is worth every cent !

the stock coils are old, small, junk and leading is wastespark.

for a kickass set-up IMO:
1. (4) Crane LX coils
2. (4) Crane Hi-6 boxes
3. NGK Race Plugs 11.5's
4. New Alternator
5. New Optima Battery

Turn off multi-strike feature on boxes and hopefully you have an ecu that runs direct fire!

this set-up is great for big boost and rich mixtures

Are there any advantages running direct fire over waste spark?

That's funny.
Because I've ran 6AL's to 40psi at over 9000rpm without any misfire what so ever.
Come to think of it I know of people running 50 psi at 11000 rpm making over 990RWHP without any misfire also.

Just to name a few.
With the right ECU full sequential ignition timing. Basically you can vary ignition timing per sparkplug.
Also less energy is needed to charge coils in direct fire mode.

Hey Rey.
With that ECU from what I've seen everyone is running two MSD DIS-2's with MSD coils.
I'm assuming Gaby will be tuning your car. Probably you should ask him what he reccomends.

Thanks, I should ask him and see what he recommends. If I recall correctly, on Sporty's street motego blue FD they were running on MSD box on stock coils and they were making almost 600rwhp and running high 9s, low 10s.

So does all MSD 6AL works for any car model or works with certain model? What would you recommend for TII coil?

Microtech LTX-12S with two MSD DIS-4 HO's my friend is making 700rwhp on alcohol with this setup and everyone nows how difficult all that alcohol is to burn up. Good enough for him should be more than enough for my 500rwhp goal on C16. Hey even Abel Ibarra runs the DIS-4 HO's on his race car.

LT10 X4 igniter, stock coils, stock ngk wires (3-years old set-up) ,,, 503 whp... i was told the X4 igniter box is the same as the LT8x but the ignition board was put apart to allow space for auxiliaries on the LT-10, hence the X4 is not an amplifier or whatsoever,,, don't know...

I will try the XS engineering box w/the same set-up and see the results, i'm currently working some things to get 550 whp very soon so i'll let you know...
