Two of my friends get their cars done by ray at pfs.... He does really good work from what I have seen and makes good numbers. Installs r extremely clean. So I believe you made a good choice. One thing about him is that both of their cars have been their over 1 year before they got them back. Actually one is still their so I hope you don't plan on driving it any time soon but when u do get it back you will get a high quality product back.

I've seen guys from all over the states send their cars and receive motors from IRP as well. I've yet to hear a complaint about their rebuilds and porting which is pretty damn rare.

You can't go wrong with PFS, I've heard nothing but good things about Ray's engines and tuning capabilities.

The good shops tend to be backed up and do take some time to get the cars back to customers..... at this stage of the game, if a guy wants 400-500 rwhp out of a 20 year old car, you have to replace about 75% of the damn car to do it right

I don't think that is the case with my two friends... They have thick wallets.

Define "some time to get back to the customers", if you can, please. I understand a couple of months (3-4), and if explained to the customer, even six months. Is one uear a realistic time frame for a 400-500rwhp rx7?

Four months, my car sat for four months at PFS, without getting touched. I know Ray is the best in this area, I also knows that he is very busy. With that said, it is sad when others take their cars in and out, while mine sat at the shop; and its even worst when you get the same answer week after week "I will look at it next week...

In my opinion, the best wont do me any good if they cant work on my car.

OP - Goodluck with your car. If The folks at PFS do work on your car, you will not be dissapointed, they are truly one of the best around here

Don't get me wrong, Ray does EXCELLENT work on our cars and they come out clean as ****. However after pouring a TON of money into my car at his shop I'll probably not be returning.

There are a couple reasons for that. 1) He is very expensive, 2) He is extremely slow in finishing projects. It is not uncommon for the same car to be in his shop, untouched, for months and months on end, and it has NOTHING to do with funding. 3) Every time I've taken my car to his shop something has been broken (MS A-Spec front bumper cracked, RE-A Pro diffuser crunched, etc) and I've been left with having it repaired.

One comment of his in particular really stuck with me. On one of the numerous occasions when I was up at his shop, checking in on the "progress" of my build we got into a conversation about when my car would be done. I wanted my car back so that I could enjoy driving it before I deployed, Ray wanted my car finished because "I won't get the rest of my money until it's done". That comment, though honest, really soured me towards his motivations. My car was dropped off at his for a rebuild/tune, suspension upgrade and a few other misc items in mid-September '10, the engine wasn't cracked open until mid-December'10 and I didn't get it back until January 2nd '11. I deployed on January 4th. On top of the extreme delay they put 10 gallons of race fuel in my car for the initial tune, then charged me a premium for it after the fact.

There are a couple cars in there that have been there that long, and trust me when I say that the owners have ZERO problems when it comes to paying their bills.

Unfortunately this is entirely true, and one of the main reasons I plan on driving the extra distance (coming from just 60 miles south of PFS, in Alexandria, Va) to IRP from now on.

OP - Goodluck with your car. If The folks at PFS do work on your car, you will not be dissapointed, they are truly one of the best around here
Again, PFS turns out an INCREDIBLE product! Once you finally get your car back you'll absolutely love the end results! I just hope you're patient

Oh man looks like I opened up a can of worms with the comment about ray having a extremely long turn around time. It isn't my car that is their and I get extremely mad knowing that my buddy car got dropped off their this time last year and is still there and a certain yellow car that everyone here know very well got was running all summer long cause I seen him at te track and is out of his shop already and back at the track. I personally know that the work is already paid for. His money is green just like everyone elses so why his car gets bumped back to do someone elses is just wrong. Especially when he spent over 10 grand!!!! If it was me I would be throwing a fit. Like everyone has told you if ray does your car you will get a great product but dont expect to have it back in your possession anytime soon.

I know where you are coming from, but truth be told, that specific car that you are talking about (was also in and out while mine sat in the same spot where it was parked when it arrived PFS) is their shop/sponsor car. As a customer, I cant be upset because they take care of their shop car first, after all, that car is their public advertisement.

I agree with u on that. But if it's been a year and my car isn't done and I told you I need my car for this certain date and that date is coming up in 3 weeks and my **** isn't done we gonna have problems my man. I know some people might get upset with my comment but **** it cause it's the truth. Anyways to the op point is ray will give you a great product. Something that is gonna be hella clean and reliable.... But expect to not have your car for 1 year and to get cough up some serious cash.

I disagree!! Best bang for the buck and with a right tuner you'll make good power.

Best advice do it yourself, have someone build the engine but you take it out install it buy all the parts then have someone tune it. Im not goin into my PFS story and Ray is a awesome tuner but everything else is eh for what i paid for it and now im redoing everything. Im taking mine to another shop to have it tuned. Ihor at IRP is awesome just wish they werent in NJ. And im goin with microtech this build.
