Question Best Lines For WG.

What do you guys concider to be the best type of signal lines to use for the wastegate/s ? silicone hose , steel braided hose or other ? , taking into account the extreme temps. and the close proximity to ultra hot parts (radiation and convection) near the exhaust system.

Im persoanlly using silicone lines that are holding up quite well. I had thought for sure they it would be a prolbem because of the heat and them being so close to the DP, but no prolbems so far.

Silicone. Some braided would be nice though.

I have silicone in there now which seems to be doing OK after about 1 year of driving. I'm considering running small diameter copper tubing though... no heat problems there.. haha.

I'm with orgasm err... wargasm on this one. Hard line all the way. It will give you piece of mind knowing that sucker won't pop off or melt through.

tried routing mine away from the turbine housing, but the line found a way to find enough slack and get hot enough to crack allowing the wastegate to not open all the way and the engine boost to 20+ psi on pump gas....new motor time

this was with silicone line

i am not sure what i am going to use when i put everything back together....maybe some creative heat shielding as i dont really want to put anything directly over the lines so they are still inspectable...

i would be very interested in any ideas and/or current materials used right now.....and pictures would be a great bonus...

My vote is copper tubing like you'd use on a small sink or something. Maybe 1/4 inch or whatever. It's cheap and easy to work with and you can bend it into whatever shape you need to clear various parts. It will never break, melt, or crack!

The critical areas to keep copper are the parts that go over the turbo/downpipe areas...

I think I'll do a flare fitting connection to the wastegate assuming I can find the right parts to make everything match up. On the boost controller end, I'll just use some short bits of silicone hose.

I am thinking of using steel braided lines around the turbine area then go back to silicone hose at the boost controller , which is located on the other side of the car, what ya think?.

How about just putting the hose within some heat shielding, a'la FyreWire?
