Atmo BOV & engine life?

Does the rich condition created by an atmospheric valve after dumping boost do the engine any harm? The car in question is a FC so it's got a air flow meter instead of a MAP. If I'm thinking right, the rich condition is a lot worse on a AFM. I know all about the stalling thing, but does all that extra fuel just get blown straight out the back or wash the oil off of everything? I've got one laying around and I'm wondering if there would be any point in putting it on my TII so that the turbo will stick around longer?

It won't hurt the motor. I ran my TII that way for several years with no ill effects at all.
