AR housing help

Im wondering what people are using for a ar housing?
Im building a t-66 and trying to decide between a
.70
.81
.96
Any one out there running a combo with one of these housings?

P trim, or Q trim? What kind of power do you want? I may have a .81 Q trim T66 for sale shortly. Expect full boost by 4000, and 450rwhp at 22-25psi on a moderate street port with all appropriate mods. .70 will spool fast, but I think you will only be able to accomadate a P trim, .96 for drag. .81 all around good size. high boost like that i would recomend the .96 ,...unchokes the engine ,free up alot more power , then again depends what youre using it for
street racing , good combo would be p trim with .96, little laggy but big top end gain

So, Felix, when will the .96 p trim show full boost? Also he did not mention either his application, whether ornot the motor will be ported, or his desired boost level... A .96 would not be as good on the street as a .81-.84, and you can still make 500rwhp with it(.81). why would you recomend the .96, personal experience? Thanks in advance for clearing up the reasons for your recomendation. Carl Byck

the most benefit you will see with the .96 was in top end ,and yes it does spool a tad bit later then the .81
on my streetported engine the .81 ,i got full boost around 4k with the .96 i got boost around 5k but the difference is pretty amazing (this was on pump gas ,20psi ,same fuel and timing setups for both housings)
messing around yes .84 ,but serious street racing i would use .96 the gain in top end is way way better
also with some more tuning i guess i could get it to spool a bit faster but ,changed my setup now ,defferent engine!

i have used both .81 and .96 (ported engine ,20psi ,pump gas ) also as an experiment i did not change my fuel and timing maps ,the difference was pretty drastic and yes you are right the .81/84 is faster spooling but at high boost levels (required to make about 500hp) it starts to choke the engine ,wich also heats the turbine housing ,
the .81 spools around 3 to 4k and with the .96 it was between 4 to 5k (sorry i dont have exact numbers as i did this a long time ago)
its really a matter of personal preference ,if you dont mind the lag ,the gain is high in the top range

thanks

Thanks for the help I mostly street drive I had a rx6 but the stupid thing blew its wad on the dyno. I have a heavy street port motor and am wanting a turbo to respond to daily driving I was told by kevin at majestic turbo that he has been doing more .70 p trims and people are very happy with it, but Im afraid of it causing problems farther in the rpm range. Im looking to build somewhere at 450hp

I'd say the .81 Q trim will be very close to what you want. Andre on this forum is selling a T66.70 P trim, but I think that is a little small on the hotside. The nice gentlemen above means well, but his RPM targets are off by a fair amount. I think the .96 will spool too slow for everyday driving. That is just preference, but I hate waiting for the turbo to spool leaving the light at less than 3500 rpm.
