Apparently I need a Clutch

Since the weather is finally cooling down in Florida, it is time to resume my build. That being said, since I changed my original NS turbos into an Aspec 500R I had the "A-Ha" moment last week of...well damn...I need a clutch.

I'd like to go with Exedy as the brand and we are looking at something that is a combination of street and Auto-X...and the occasional launch.

Figure 400HP conservatively to 450-500HP Max.

I know this has been covered before and I found Rich's post about his Exedy twin cerametallic and I've been trying to find Howard's old post on the same subject.

Thanks!

I still prefer tha ACT Extreme pressure plate with street disc. It will hold you power levels easily for a long time and not be too harsh on your left foot in traffic. Its what I run in my own car.

Why the 500r with such low power goals?

I am in love with my Exedy Compe-R carbon twin disc. But a good single will probably suffice for you and your goals.

We have always ran the act xtreme pp with their 6 puck clutch disc on the cars at the shop. If not that route and you want a little lighter pedal feel but still good grip the exedy twin disc or a os giken twin disc. If you do decide to do a push style clutch I have a os giken push to pull converter for sale.

@John - Honestly...because I've never had to deal with that much power before in a vehicle and I'd rather start low and work my way up instead of going full retard and having my next part out be because I'm dead! =)

@Zack - Text or PM details on the clutch if you would. May consider it.

^ But if you do have plans of raising the boost once you get used to the power then maybe a twin disc is in order so you do not have to change it again down the road? Plus you then will have that cool twin disc rattle with the clutch depressed.

I think his power goals are in line with what the 500R will produce..... 400 on low boost and 500 on high boost

To echo the above posts, of you want to spend the cash look into an Exedy twin disc. If you want something that costs less then the ACT extreme PP with full face disc will work as well. Although if you have a stock flywheel and are thinking about moving to a lightweight one, the twin disc becomes a better value b/c it comes with a flywheel as part of the kit.

I run act hdd PP and street disc as well. But get a unsprung disc. Ive spun tires in 5th gear with no clutch slip and ran on the strip with bias slicks with no slip.
Just be aware that the act hdd PP is known for finding the weak casted clutch forks and breaking them.

Should be noted I do have an ACT Streetlite Flywheel already if that changes any of the suggestions. Thank you for the input gents!
