Apexi RX6 / Oil in the IC Pipe??
I have recently installed my Apexi IHI RX6 single turbo and I took off the elbow from the trubo to the IC Pipe and I saw oil inside the IC Pipe. I was wondering if this is good or bad...As I know w/ turbo it shouldnt leak any oil?? Anyone???
My understanding is that it is quite normal for a turbo to have a little oil get past the compressor. My T78 ate oil from the day it was brand new, as did my stock twins before I got rid or them.
There is one thing to watch out for: if your turbo is eating a LOT of oil (smokes bad after being hard on the gas) it's possible that you have too much pressure building in the crankcase. This can force oil through the turbo bearings and into the intake (and exhaust). I had that very problem with my T78 as I had kept the crankcase breather connected to the intake (through the PCV valve). What would occur under extended accelaration on boost was that the crankcase couldn't vent into the intake which built up pressure that eventually pushed through the turbo into the intake. It was so bad that my air filter was soaked with oil. I capped off the crankcase breather with a filter, tossed the PCV valve and capped the nipple on the intake and the problem was solved.

u did put the restrictor in the oil line right ?? the turbo only wants 55psi and if you didnt install it your going to have 120..... That would force oil thru and into the intercooler..
Well i am no single turbo guru but i do know how sthe oil system works... And it sounds like you guys either dont get one or dont need one... But I do think 120psi is enough to do some damage to those tubos...

for all you APEXi RX-6 turbo owners the "Blue" oil feed fitting that screws on to the top of the turbo has a restrictor already in it..so dont worry about it! all you guys have one already
