Yes, A'PEXi made two different manifolds. One placed the turbo up high and the other one has the turbo down low. But both manifolds are made by A'PEXi and I haven't seen either manifold for sale separately or with any other turbos.

The manifold that sits low allows for the retention of the airpump. The one that sits lower also fits a lot nicer as well since the turbo doesn't bang against the AC lines anymore

Dude, my morning coffee came out my nose. I'm suing somebody :-)

TEC trimmed the hot wheel on this gangsta's RX6 to remove some hurt from an apex seal I blasted outta my exhaust port at it.

Check this out: judgin by other ball bearing turbos, it seems to be common to replace the turbo (for mad paper) when it wrecks itself, rather than just fixing up your old one. Punch the digits of an A'PEXi vendor (like the RX-7 Store) to order a new turbo (maybe just the CHRA -- no housings?) if TEC squashes your rebuild dreams. But get ready to wait for special order Japan parts, yo.

Sorry for the flame, but you asked for it by not reading my response the first time.

Was that you at Willow Springs this past weekend(Jan 29/30)?
I recognize your name from the time sheets.

If so, is the car tuned completely with the new turbo(RX6)?

What lap times were you running?

Yep that was me! Sadly, no, the car was not running close to optimum...I was able to do some fuel tuning before the event, but I was plagued with ignition cutoff, which lead me to believe that the coil was going out.

My best time was a measly 1:48 or so, which I can't really blame on the car...I still have a LOT to learn on the track. I was talking to Jason at the track (RX-7 owner turned spec miata competitor), and he was telling me how he turned in a 1:36 or so when he was running his 7 in near-stock condition. Sheesh.

Still...those few times where the ignition didn't cutout, the pull felt awesome.

What car were you in?

it probably isn't the coil going out. you need to upgrade your sparkplugs, spark plug wires, and get an ignition amplier. Before I had those thing, my car would get misfires and ignition cutoff as well

That's what I was thinking too...but I installed an HKS twinpower about a month ago, and I replaced the spark plugs, which had remedied the problem for a little bit. You think bad wires would have the same effect?

I'm actually planning on doing the coil relocation bracket thing being discussed, so I already have some FC magnecore's ready and waiting to get put in...

Maybe I should invest in some good FD wires first? It just seems like it would be a terrible waste if I end up going with the relocation right after...

I assumed that your car was running poorly since I saw a bunch of cars passing you on the front straight.

This was my first time at Willow Springs. I was in the white group driving my Laguna Seca blue M3. My best time was 1:40.XX. I wanted to break into 1:39's. I believe it could have been possible except that on almost every lap, I was being held up by other drivers who wouldn't let me by(my excuse). Next time I go to a Speed Venture's event I think I am going to ask to be in the blue group.

Ah ha! So YOU'RE the one! Hahahaha...my buddy Matt, who was also in the white group driving around in the rented convertible Z was distressed by the fact that you had spun out between turn 3 and 4 at least four times right in front of him...

I guess given your times, you were obviously pushing the car pretty hard whenever that happened. Nice times!

LOL.

Yes that was me.

However, I spun out only once - on the throttle in turn 5. I don't think the convertible Z was behind me at the time.

I did have a throttle oversteer between 3 and 4 which I was able to correct without spinning out - I believe it was right after pasing the convertible Z in the straight between 2 and 3.

You need colder plugs. The stock ones have a heat range of 9. I use the HKS iridium which is 10.5 and 11. I also think you should get new spark plug wires, either the factory ones or magnecore wires.
