Apex IHI RX6 Turbo
i don't have any personal experience with the RX6 turbo itself, but i have an evo friend that runs an rx6 turbo and he swears by it. from what i've heard around, the rx6 turbo is a great setup and what not, but its just really expensive for what it is, and while it does have really low and easy spool (kinda like non-sequential setup for FD's) for the money and overall capabilities, u'd be better off going with a GT35R for around the same "low spool" while still having the capabilities to push out more power if thats what you want. but its personal preference, but from what i know, no one has ever disliked the RX6 setup, just not exactly the best bang for buck. good luck on whatever setup u go with.
pretty sure the RX6 and the t04Z are two very different power points......
The GT35R is closer to the RX6, and (at least in NZ) the t04z is about 30% more expensive than the garrett turbo.....
It pretty much comes down to what RWHP you are planning on making.. and whether you can live with a slightly higher boost threshold as to which turbo is right for you....

Or.... here's an idea, you could point the guy in the right direction rather than just out and insulting him internal comsuktion engine?
People come here to learn, it might not be the best question, but there is no point in going *** on him

In short, the Rx6 won't reach your goals.... even the T04Z is going to be a little stretched at 550 hp ..... it can do it.... but you said you wanted headroom....
Have a search under T78, T88, GT42 and see what you think of those turbos....

Every time Ive read about the rx6 the guys say it spools fast and the car pulls hard so if your looking for little lag thats probably the best choice for you, But if your just looking for a HP number then look into the t70 that should get you to your goals with less lag than the t78 and other big turbos.
Hm. There's another thread with practically the same title as yours. Read here:

I can't see why anyone would want to make more than 400 whp on a "street driven" FD anyway. As we all know, in general, as power goes up, reliability will go down. Look at the dyno charts of the Rx6 equipped cars and notice how they grab more torque earlier in the RPM range than most other turbos people use on REWs. That's what you're going to feel on the street. If you are going to be out racing you may benefit from another turbo besides the Rx6.
There's a million variables to consider, it's up to you.

If you are looking to create a more reliable car but with more power, you'll want a turbo which you can run at a lower rate to achieve your goals. The harder you need to run the turbo, the higher the charge temps you will be creating. Thus the greater chance of pre-ignition. What you should strive for is picking a turbo which is larger enough to offer the power you need/want at a lower setting. This allows the turbo to work less, thus keeping the charge temps much lower (i.e. safer).
The Apexi is basically good for stock twins power, just without the complexity of the twin turbo setup. If you want more power than what the twins can provide, you need to look somewhere other than the Apexi.
fair enough.. I thought about the BNR's but i really think Ill just go single now..
62-1 turbos any good compared to the gt35? im thinking 62-1 with a .96 or .84 ar so i can get quicker spool for the street and low down.

. Or you can take them as good advise and use them.....because you dont have any....and I'm starting to feel bad for you-J
Once again, I will ask you to back up your statements with something other than an insult. All I am hearing from you is "blah blah blah, I know more than you, blah blah you are an idiot, blah blah blah but I will keep all this knowledge to myself, because I am only here to be an *** blah blah blah."
Back up your statement and I will let this go.... or bring on another insult and look like more of a twit... your pick....
