Question Anyone try new V band housings yet ?

I came across the new V band turbine housings on Tial's site , They are available for the GT 42 and 45 and are only available in 1.0 a/r for now, anyone using them yet ? apart from the obvious (ease of mounting and positioning along with less weight ) , what are the pros and cons ?

I believe the price I was quoted for a GT42R hot side last year was around $4,500. Enough said

Something doesnt sound right there ! My local dealer said that they are about $100 more than an original housing , putting them in the $400 range , and yes you can buy the housings separately . I also believe that a turbo can be bought without the turbine housing .

I know hks uses this setup on there big turbos, t51r spl etc

But Isn't the standard T4 or T6 fully divided turbine housing with a well matched divided manifold more efficient specially on a 2 rotor ?

And this is better for hard to place turbos ? and maybe some weight and ease of taking off or on

Over all I would think the 13b still is better off with a fully divided manifold to divided turbine housing, no ?

I think you guys are confusing the v band option with the s/s turbine housing option.

I've been waiting for months for TiAL to send me two of their gt30's. I was told that they are working out all the problems before they release any. I might recieve the housings early to mock up a manifold, can't wait- these look awesome. Ordered two bovs, v60 wastegate and couplers from them already. They advertised these in several mags a few months ago as available. Still waiting.

Those are perfect for a parallel twin turbo setup. I looked in to those about 6 months ago. My setup would have true dual exhaust though.

I have them but they are very slow to getting them up and going. It took forever to get ahold of a few. I needed them for mock up purposes.

Sean do you have the housing for the GT45? , is it 1.0 or larger a/r , are you willing to sell it to me and get another for yourself ?

This is true , but there are a lot of people out there who run undivided manifolds and housings and have no problem with spool , The manifold I would make would still be fully divided until the turbos inlet though, so I doubt I'd see any appreciable loss , and I am also going with a bb turbo so that should help improve the response too.

From what I understand-

If you do a long runner manifold with a proper collector the undivided is great.

If you have a short manifold the divided will help spool significantly.

The round entrance is especially nice for flow on the V-band housings. This set-up could use one of these turbos

My supplier was also told "off the record" that those housings flow quite a bit more than the equivalent size in the "traditional" housing style , the 1.0 a/r housing on the GT45R is said to be good for up to 1000 ponies !
