I see alot of people using GT42R turbos on there 20b engines. I was just curious if anyone has done anything with the larger frame GT4780 or GT4788 turbo?

If so, Whats your setup consist of?
What kinda power are you making?
At around what RPM are you seeking peak boost?

I think fitting it under the hood will be the problem.

I also think the turbine housing is a too small for a 20B...I wouldn't go with anything smaller than a 1.15.

other than that...your questions are too vague.

set up consist of?? lots of fuel, IC, BOV, WG, etc
Power?? mostly likely over 600rwhp if you want that turbo to wake up
peak boost? Depends what it is...I'm sure you don't need a BB CHRA with a 20B but boost in the low rpms is fun.

 

you gotta pay attention to the flow, not just the a/r number. it's just like asking "how many psi" instead of "how much airflow"
see how a lower a/r on a gt42 still outflows a higher a/r on a gt35?
