Anyone here used the ACT HDSS clutch combo on a 500hp setup?

My ACT HDSS(heavy duty p/plate with street sprung disc) does not seem to be holding up too well at this power level. Lately, while doing pulls in 3rd @ 24psi it sometimes will begin to slip at about 6000rpm till redline. I got this option about a year ago since I was running a street car and not want something to stiff or sharp. However, I was at about 400hp then. Anyone using this setup at 500HP on a street car without issues.

No one is because the clutch isn't rated for those power/torque/boost levels.

the HD pp is good up til maybe 425ish, and the Extreme pp is good til around 500ish.

First of all... search. 500whp clutch options have been covered.... bigtime.

Agreeing with GoodFella on this one. If you want a full face disc then go with the SS disc with an Extreme PP.

Otherwise, its sprung 6 puck or twin disk. A 500whp rotary typically makes around 400-430 ftlbs. If you plan to launch the car hard or take it to the track then I would recommend the 6 puck. However, the extreme PP & SS disc would be fine for most duties. Ultimately, the twin disc is the answer to all the riddles. You just have to pay for it..

Thanks for the feedback. I don't drag race and seldom launch. Too save some money since my kit is still new, I was thinking of just upgrading the disc to the sprung six puk, and maintain the HD P/plate. Do you think this combo will hold the torque at the top of 3rd gr? I don't pull in 4th.

That is exactly what I am doing as I plan to turn up the boost soon. I am simply upgrading my SS disc to the 6 puck. Pretty easy considering the disc is only $130. The sprung 6 puck disk with HD pressure plate will hold 512 ftlbs of torque. A very proven setup. You will have no problems. Just resurface that flywheel and hit the PP with some 600 grit to take off any glazing. As long as things are in good shape, they will mate up fine.

your just asking for trouble, why spend soo much money on everything else in the setup and skimp on one of the most important pieces? Idk about you but i hate changing clutches. Put one in that will hold soo in a month when you get used to the power and wanna turn it up you can with out having to ***** foot the gas cause your clutch slips.

Just my personal thoughts....

The ACT sprung 6 puck with HD pressure plate setup holds 512ftlbs. That is a 600-650whp Rx7. It isn't exactly what I would call skimping.....

This combination has been proven time and time again on both the track and street. Just because it isn't a double or triple plate, doesn't mean its weak.
