Anyone here satisfied with their XS TO4E or TO4S kit??

Up until recently I had my mind set on getting the Apex'i kit, but after hearing numerous praises about the XS kits I'm kind of starting to consider them as well. Can anyone with either the TO4e or TO4S kit give me some feedback on the kit including:
What type of turbo (TO4E, TO4S)
1. how fast does it spool up?
2. how long have you had it on your car?
3. how reliable is the kit?
4. are you satified with it or would you have gotten something else if you could have done it all over again?

any feedback would be appreciated

I just finished installing my XS T04E kit, and am very satisfied with the kit itself. The only additional thing to be done is to plumb the wastegate discharge into the exhaust. I ordered mine with the exhaust a/r 1.00 to keep the backpressure down, with a supposed increase in lag. However it does feel almost as responsive as the stockers. 10psi by about 3.5-4k rpm. I think the engine is running very rich though as I'll explain below.

I ordered mine thru Jason in a GB last year & had the kit sitting because I really didn't have a problem with the stockers. I eventually decided to slap the kit on last week & everything fit nicely. I had also ordered a PowerFC with the kit & gave Jason my mods so XS could configure the PFC correctly. Then, going thru the different settings on the PFC Commander, I realized XS had sent an off the shelf PFC for a stock car. So now I'm stuck with using the T04S map from the forum & the car does feel a bit sluggish. I'll cautiously try & lean it out to see how it goes.

Thanks for the input. Do you have any dyno numbers yet or are you waiting for the maps still? Please give me an update when you get everything running properly. If i get this kit, I'm going to drive all the way down to XS and get it dyno tuned.

myself i like the TO4S alot and i'm very happy with the power, fittings, and very little lag on the turbo. The apexi kit is nice too but if anything was to happen to your IHI kit, you can not rebuild it here in the US. the apexi kit is a good kit if you do alot of street racing.

good luck

Dyno Numbers & 1/4 Mile Times!

There were a lot of people that bought that kit in the group buy.
I'm sure out of all those buyers someone has to have dynoed the car or at least run it down the quarter mile.

I'm dieing to see that turbo in an FD going down the quarter mile.

I guess we'll wait till Wednesday till Wargasm dynoes his!!!

Make sure and post the numbers

Anthony

With my T04S, I put down 361 RWHP @ 14 psi at KD Rotary on a stock motor and the mods below...

I recently brought the car to the track and ran 12.21 at 118mph. I have only been to the track 3 times since I got the car(2 years ago) Im not the best driver.

361??? wow that's low... I figured at around 14psi you would be somewhere around 400 rwhp... shows what I know!

interesting... I was planning on getting the t04s kit, but I also thought that i was going to be able to get around 425 @ 15 psi. Dave streetported my engine but I don't see how 1 psi and a street port could add around 65 hp?

I have been driving my xsto4s kit with the XS mail order tuned pfc. The car is no faster then with the twins. But, i have not dyno tuned it yet. Its probably set up pig rich on those 1300cc secs (mail order tuning is very conservative, i bet).

Well on my car....

After XS tuned and Before KD fine tuning....13.4 sec quarter mile at 10 psi

after KD tuning...12.2 sec quarter mile at 15 psi...

361 RWHP = about 425-435 at the flywheel

Yeah... i never talk in terms of horsepower at the flywheel though. Seems like a complete waste of time because what really matters is what's getting to the ground.

i'm the one with 362 rwhp with the T04S at 14 psi. I have a street port , small SMIC, mid pipe, 1600 cc inj , XS tuned pfc, lightened flywheel, pulleys, racing plugs, 94 octane. I was expecting more but reality bites. I'm very happy with it because its very reliable (KD rebuild) and not overstraining the turbos or engine at all. The XS tuning had perfect lamdas according to Dave and it is a very steady pull without any breakups all the way to 7.5 K rpm (street port). Its not a hp monster but its def. enouph for the street and on the track can do 11's if driven right. Dave showed me dynos of t78's with 380 rwhp at 14 psi and the lag was def. more. At 3K rpm i'm getting 200 rwhp. Does anyone have a single that is putting out over 400 rwhp at 14 psi on pump gas? I doubt it!! On the street i've pulled easily on BPU supras , run pretty even with a stage 5 Z and totaly killed saleens. The real power of this turbo is when your in 4th and 5th gear. The rpm's just climb effortlessly. I hit 165 mph and it was still pulling pretty good. Unfortunately thats not something you can experience daily.

Sounds like the TO4s is a beast...But i'm looking for something where I can get full boost around 3000 rpm's....will either the TO4E or the TO4s do that for me? I also do not want a turbo that will kick in too violently. I road race so I don't want the turbo to disturb the balance of the car...

Um.. I have a single running over 400 rwhp on pump gas at 1 bar... With the proper tuning I would think you could get that with your T04S.

Look into the stage 2 turbo from shaneracing. ErnieT has that turbo and he was getting full boost by 3k and making over 400rwhp. Its alittle more pricey though.

Carcrazy has a HKS T04E and he pulled 402 RWHP at 14.2 psi.

I was expecting the guys with T04S to pull more than what has been posted on this thread.

I forgot to mention that Carcrazy does have a "fairly radical porting" on his motor, though.
