Anti surge Delete

I`m thinking of doing an anti surge delete on my GT42 as its off the road for a while with a damaged compressor wheel.

Whats the best way to fill the port? Could I use devcon Plastic steel? like whats used when making a PPort. I don`t know a huge amount about this devcon stuff as its not used that often to my knowledge in the UK. I`ve read their site but would like to know if anyone has had any experience using it for something like this, and if it can put up with the stress involved in this aplication.

On another note, is it really worth doing? It seems to get a mixed response.

proof shows it does indeed work as the theory does as well, I'd say to you unbolt the compressor cover and take it to a tool maker/machinist and get them to turn you up a new section.... *complete belmouth*

there is a realy good write up on the proper way to do this on supraforums.com without doign the full host of mods needed you not only end up with a ghetto mod but maybe poor results as well.

What Rice said. There wont be a noticable change in just filling the port, you'll need a full bell mouth so a machine shop will need to do it. Cheaper alternative would be finding a replacement non ported shroud compressor cover and machining it to work with your turbo charger, but nothing that big non-ported comes to my mind, the T04S cover is too small for a turbo that large.

Ok guys thanks for that. I realise it would need shaping into to a trumpet sort of shape rather than just filling it.

I`ll probably leave it just for now and do a little more research.

Rice do you have a link to that supra post. I am a member over there but their search functions not working.

Alot of it depends on application, for instance they ban anti-surge housings in diesel tractor competitions because they get both better power and response. If you guys are seriously wanting these things I can get a few machined up for you.

Interesting fact there, I suppose I can see how obviously some air flow bypasses the minor diameter of the comp wheel and can result in extra ultimate flow.... in all the piston application (i've seen) on cars I think the gains they see is relative to the smoother flow of the bell mouth.... still its great to hear a different perspective

Totally agree, in fact a very good friend of mine who has been doing tractor pulling for decades and is at the top of the pile thought it was ironic people want to delete the anti-surge. He is upset that they wont allow them to run them. He is running quite a bit over 200psi last time I checked. Big safety chains wrapped around the motor to keep stuff from flying everywhere when they blow the whole rotating assembly out the bottom of the engine. Cool stuff, you ever want to learn how to keep **** together under high boost those are the people you get your ideas from
