What power did it make in the end?

thanks, what rpm did it hit full boost, ie 18psi and 32psi, im guessing due to the size of it around 6k.

ill be running stock intake, would you say this made a big difference in spool or was it just for outright power?

thanks for replying

Being everything is the same, timing, tune, a/f ratio, porting....the BW will outspool yours by a little bit.

yeah. I'm not sure when it spooled, but i can tell you it was sooner than that. This gigantic turbo is actually very well matched to a rotary.. the spool characteristics would be similar to what it would be on a built chevy small block.. i can tell you this, because this turbo isn't such a huge hit with the rotary fans.. its an amazing turbo for v8s as well.. however, you'll never see me touching one.

Dregg100........... Why don't you really chime in and put up concrete evidence of the spool and power at different rpm/boost levels.. You never said what your car made.... Are you ashamed?

Ray did a car identical to mine but with that turbo. I don't have the dyno's in front of me, but I remember at 20psi, my car spooled about 400rpms slower, but up top my car made a tiny bit more power. But that could be the motor was a bit tighter too as no two engines will be the exact same. IMO, for the money, you can't beat the BW. And it hit 20psi at about 4700rpms.

Hey Ernie, yeah i remember that car you are talking about. I bought the exhaust set-up and manifold and i'm doing a S475 turbo also. But I always see big hp numbers.. Hoorays and cheers but no dyno sheets and lower boost numbers..

I plan on doing a 15psi street tune and post dyno numbers to show spool, hp, and torque. Then a 20psi tune with 93+ AI and do the same thing... Then for ***** and giggles maybe a 25 psi tune on the gas.

I've seen 709hp@32psi, 675hp@25psi, etc etc... Guess i just gotta find out on my own. My car is almost done, so i will post info as soon as i get off the dyno...

Good stuff! You'll be happy, no doubts. If I had to do it over, I'd go the BW route. Just clearance your engine. When you start making over 700ish you may start to have side seals stick because things start smaking into each other, lol..

I see it now... There was a little red "x" earlier when i posted... lol...

Maybe im thinking wrong.. But again that was a total hp number for 13brx3.. Did he strap it to the dyno and just "pow" 764hp..

There had to be a warm up to that. Am i mistaken... You know the foreplay before the happy ending... say we start at 20 psi =? then 25psi=? or do we treat her like a cheap ***** and start at 30psi and leave $100 bill on the dresser when we see 764hp...

I like cheap ******, but a little foreplay is good for a old man like me... lmao..

To be honest, yes we went straight for the kill. I had the boost set from a previous motor and it was not touched. The video is in my sig. Those turbos are not anything impressive below 30 PSI compared to others. They really come alive between 30 and 40 psi

well i made the assumption since my friend hits full boost on his t51r kai on stock ports and intake at 5400rpm and this being a big turbo that i was roughly about correct.

If its better than that then great but 98mm turbine wheel with a t6 1.32 rear is massive!! ernieT mentions 4700rpm, is that with a bridgeport or streetport

i was thinking of the 83mm turbine and 1.15 for my build since im not bridgeported and want it to come on boost before the rev limiter!

can you confirm what the port is ernie? and anything you think on your setup that helps spool

You should be flogged..... (sarcasticly speaking)... I think the only reference to power you have made is that it spins fourth gear pretty easy.. Good Deal..

If your not planning on going beyond 25psi you really should reconsider your turbo choice cause as Allen has already stated this turbo is not meant to perform at low boost especially 15psi which is barely spinning the wheel lol. a quicker spooling(smaller) turbo would be much faster and more fun to drive.

NO.. the S480 has an 80mm comp wheel. The S475 has 75mm comp wheel.. Both have same exh wheel and turbine a/r. Unless you get the smaller version.

oh right, my apologies, i could only find 3 types of s400 series

http://www.agpturbo.com/home.php?cat=334

and they said the s480 was the one with the 98mm turbine wheel.

If you were building a mild street port engine that had a maximum rpm limit of 9k

the port is the same as that one

would you go for the 83mm wheel or the 98mm wheel, the car needs to develop 650bhp at around 30-32psi thats uk flywheel which is roughly US dynojet whp

which one and why? sorry for the questions but im researching like mad and trying to learn so i dont make a mistake

i need that power figure to hit my target top speed at an event
