Am I searching for a part that dosent exist?

Ive been trying to piece together a single turbo kit for quite some time. I already have my turbo but im stumped on the manifold.

The person who has been my "kit advisor" said the best manifold he has used is a greddy CAST IRON manifold. So I had a contact (this is all a couple people down the line, ive never actually personally talked to the advisor or the greddy contact) order me the turbo manifold straight from greddy. Its been almost a year and im still waiting for the part, Ive been told that it was "on the ship" and now my word is that greddy wont send one unless they end up with an extra out of the kit, so it could be some time.

So ive been recently searching to find one myself, new or used. But today I was looking for a picture and looking on greddys website, the t-78 kit says it comes with a stainless manifold. The only cast one I can find is for a 2nd gen. Also I cant find any pics of a cast manifold on a fd.

Am I missing something here? Does this part actually exist or was he saying to put a 2nd gen manifold on my car. If thats the case does that even fit? Or did I get bogus advice?

why do u want a cast iron one? Stainless is better cuz it doesnt retain all the heat and cook your housings and orings

Mostly because I was told by this guy that it was the best he has used.

Also retaining the heat helps to increase spool up.

^true....but id rather save my o-rings and deal with a little later spool. you can always wrap the DP and gain 5-600rpms back in spool too. I dunno, just a thought

I dont think my o-rings are going to outlast my 400whp pump gas engine Besides it would be way less than the stock manifolds heat.

Cast Iron is stronger than ss! while it may be a little heavier it should last longer.

also call greddy. here is the contact info:

GReddy Performance Products Inc.
9 Vanderbuilt
Irvine, CA 92618
[949] 588 8300
[949] 588 6318 FAX

If they can't tell you what you want no one can, actually maybe if you spoke Japanese and you could call TRUST in Japan... or maybe post something in the Japan part of this forum. Someone maybe able to help you a little more there.

Good Luck

done some more reasearch, Anyone have any experience with the hks cast manifolds. are these flanged specifically for hks wastegates? how is the build quality?

At this point i may just buck up and get a SUS one. I really want my single turbo in this summer and if it costs me 10 hp to do so, then so be it.

Greddy are *****,as far as i'm aware they won't sell you a manifold unless you buy the whole turbo kit,or even a downpipe.
Get the one off ebay, its of decent quality and cheap.
Although you will end up skimming the mounting faces and redrilling/tapping the bolt holes.

I used the HKS cast iron manifold and 35mm standard wastegate, I also had boost creep. IMO I dont think the cast iron manifolds does as good of a job as stainless. I have the ss autochrome one off of ebay that I never used because my turbo uses another flange so I am haveing one made. If you worried about heat just have it coated. If I were you I would leave those ******** alone a greddy and use someone or a manifold that you can get in the U.S. Ill sell you mine for cheap if that what you want.
